1Complete the sentence with the correct form: «У меня нет ___.» (I do not have a sister — сестра)
A.сестры
B.сестра
C.сестру
D.сестре
Explanation: The negative existential construction «нет» always governs the genitive case. The genitive singular of сестра is сестры, so the correct sentence is «У меня нет сестры.»
2Complete the sentence: «Я вижу ___.» (I see my brother — брат)
A.брата
B.брат
C.брату
D.братом
Explanation: Брат is an animate masculine noun, and for animate masculine nouns the accusative is identical to the genitive: брата. Видеть takes a direct object in the accusative.
3Complete the sentence: «Мы живём в ___.» (We live in Moscow — Москва)
A.Москве
B.Москву
C.Москва
D.Москвы
Explanation: The preposition в meaning location ('in', answering где?) requires the prepositional case. The prepositional of Москва is Москве: «Мы живём в Москве.»
4Complete the sentence: «Вчера я говорил с ___.» (Yesterday I spoke with the teacher — учитель)
A.учителем
B.учителя
C.учителю
D.учителе
Explanation: The preposition с in the meaning 'together with' governs the instrumental case. Учитель has a soft stem, so the instrumental singular is учителем.
5Complete the sentence: «В классе двадцать пять ___.» (There are twenty-five pupils in the class — ученик)
A.учеников
B.ученика
C.ученики
D.ученике
Explanation: Numerals ending in 5–20 and in 0 govern the genitive plural. The genitive plural of ученик is учеников: «двадцать пять учеников».
6Complete the sentence: «На столе лежат две ___.» (Two books are lying on the table — книга)
A.книги
B.книг
C.книга
D.книгу
Explanation: The numerals 2, 3 and 4 (and две for feminine nouns) require the genitive singular. The genitive singular of книга is книги: «две книги».
7Complete the sentence: «___ нравится русская музыка.» (I like Russian music.)
A.Мне
B.Я
C.Меня
D.Мной
Explanation: Нравиться is an impersonal-type verb: the person who likes something stands in the dative, and the thing liked is the grammatical subject in the nominative. Hence «Мне нравится русская музыка.»
8What is the genitive plural of the neuter noun «место» (place)?
A.мест
B.местов
C.места
D.местей
Explanation: Neuter nouns ending in -о form the genitive plural with a zero ending: место → мест (e.g. «много мест» — many places / seats).
9Complete the sentence: «Мы говорили о ___.» (We talked about life — жизнь)
A.жизни
B.жизне
C.жизнь
D.жизнью
Explanation: Жизнь is a third-declension feminine noun (ending in -ь). Third-declension nouns take -и in the genitive, dative and prepositional singular, so the prepositional after о is жизни.
10Complete the sentence: «В ___ было много людей.» (There were a lot of people in the metro — метро)
A.метро
B.метре
C.метру
D.метрах
Explanation: Метро is an indeclinable loanword (несклоняемое существительное). Like кино, пальто, кафе and радио it keeps the same form in every case: «В метро было много людей.»

Saxony-Anhalt Abitur Russian: Suggested Study Strategy

1Drill case rection as verb-plus-case pairs rather than as isolated tables: заниматься + instrumental, помогать + dative, интересоваться + instrumental, скучать по + dative.
2Treat aspect as a meaning choice, not a form choice — ask whether the sentence is about a completed result (perfective) or a process, repetition or state (imperfective) before you pick the verb.
3Learn participles and Adverbialpartizipien by their suffixes (-ущ-/-ющ-, -ем-, -вш-, -нн-, -я, -в) and always check whether the noun is the doer or the object of the action.
4Practise Sprachmittlung with a real addressee in mind: decide what that person needs to know, then select, condense and explain — never translate word for word.
5Cover all eight Themenbereiche and prepare one Ganzschrift and one film in enough depth to name the author, period, main character and central conflict in Russian.
6After MCQ work, move to full official-format tasks — listening under time pressure, extended writing with integrated reading, and mediation — because MCQs build knowledge, not production skill.
