About the Saxony Abitur Russian Exam

Sachsen Abitur Russisch is the Freistaat Sachsen examination in the Fremdsprache Russisch for the Allgemeine Hochschulreife, taken as a fortgeführte Fremdsprache Leistungskursfach among the neuen Fremdsprachen (or as a Grundkurs-/Prüfungsfach where offered). Following VwV Abiturprüfung 2026, the LK examination combines a practical Partnerprüfung for Sprechen with written Schreiben (fictional or non-fictional Textaufgabe) and Sprachmittlung. Content is governed by the Lehrplan Gymnasium Russisch (SMK) for Jahrgangsstufen 11/12 — Lernbereiche Fachbezogene Strategien, Linguistische Grundlagen and Texte und Themenbereiche — and by the KMK EPA / Bildungsstandards for the fortgeführte Fremdsprache. This free 100-question MCQ bank trains the underlying language system and content knowledge — real Cyrillic Russian for cases, aspect, participles, syntax and vocabulary, plus reading, mediation and Landeskunde — as preparation before students practise full official-format tasks. It is an English-language study adaptation, not an official-format simulation.

Exam sponsor: Sächsisches Staatsministerium für Kultus (SMK). The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.

Saxony Abitur Russian: Suggested Study Strategy

1Drill case rection as verb-plus-case pairs rather than as isolated tables: заниматься + instrumental, помогать + dative, интересоваться + instrumental, скучать по + dative.
2Treat aspect as a meaning choice, not a form choice — ask whether the sentence is about a completed result (perfective) or a process, repetition or state (imperfective) before you pick the verb.
3Rehearse Partnerprüfung Argumentation and Interaktion without a dictionary — the practical speaking part bans Hilfsmittel.
4Practise Sprachmittlung with a real addressee in mind: decide what that person needs to know, then select, condense and explain into Russian — never translate word for word (Prüfungsteil B).
5For Prüfungsteil A, practise both fictional and non-fictional Textaufgaben under time pressure with authentic Russian materials up to about 1000 words.
6After MCQ work, move to full official-format tasks — Partnerprüfung speaking, extended writing with integrated reading, and mediation — because MCQs build knowledge, not production skill.
