About the ECE Board Exam Exam

The PRC Electronics Engineer Licensure Examination, also called the ECE board exam, is the objective written board examination for the Registered Electronics Engineer (RECE) under Republic Act No. 9292, the Electronics Engineering Law of 2004. It is administered by the Professional Regulatory Board of Electronics Engineering under the Professional Regulation Commission across four subjects. The exam is distinct from the separate Electronics Technician (RECT) examination and from the higher Professional Electronics Engineer (PECE) assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ECE Board Exam vocabulary game free?

Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.

How do the ECE Board Exam vocabulary games work?

There are 4 games built on 20 ECE Board Exam terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.

Where do the ECE Board Exam terms come from?

OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Professional Regulatory Board of Electronics Engineering (PRC) content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.

What is the ECE board exam pass rate?

Pass rates vary by administration. In the October 2026 Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination, 1,106 of 2,337 examinees passed (47.33%), according to the Professional Regulation Commission; the March 2026 rate was 61.62%. RA 9292 requires a passing rating of 70% in each subject, and a candidate who passes most subjects but rates 60% to below 70% in the rest may take one removal examination.

What subjects are covered in the ECE board exam?

The exam covers four subjects per the PRC Table of Specifications: Mathematics (20%), General Engineering and Applied Sciences or GEAS (20%), Electronics Engineering (30%), and Electronic Systems and Technologies or EST (30%). Together these span calculus, applied sciences, ECE law, circuits, semiconductor devices, communications, antennas, and fiber optics.
