How do the Illinois Security Guard vocabulary games work?

There are 4 games built on 20 Illinois Security Guard terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.

Where do the Illinois Security Guard terms come from?

OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.

What is a PERC card and how do I get one in Illinois?

A PERC (Permanent Employee Registration Card) is the state-issued credential that employees of licensed security agencies need in Illinois. To get one, you must be 18+ (21+ for armed work), complete 20 hours of basic training within 30 days of employment, submit fingerprints for an Illinois State Police and FBI background check, and file the application with the $55 fee to IDFPR. The Act sets no high school diploma requirement and the state sets no exam score.

How long do I have to complete the 20-hour Illinois security training?

You must complete the 20-hour basic security training within 30 days of your employment date. The training covers ten subjects set by statute, including arrest and search and seizure, civil and criminal liability, use of force, Criminal Code offenses, fire safety, report writing, customer service and civil rights, and terrorism awareness. A qualified instructor must provide it, in a classroom or online.
