An owner wants a fixed price locked in before construction starts and is willing to accept a longer front-end schedule to get it. Which delivery method fits best?
Design-Bid-Build (DBB). Design is 100% complete before bidding, so the owner gets a firm, competitively bid price, but construction cannot start until design and procurement are finished.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many questions are on the CCM exam and how much time do I get?
The CCM exam has 175 multiple-choice questions delivered over 240 minutes (4 hours). Only 150 of the 175 questions are scored; the remaining 25 are unscored pretest items being evaluated for future exams, so you cannot tell which questions count.
What is the passing score for the CCM exam?
CMCI's current CCM Application Handbook (v4.5, 2025) states the passing score is set by a statistical formula and may vary slightly between exam forms rather than being a single fixed percentage. A 72% cut score has been cited in earlier CMCI materials and widely-used prep resources; treat it as a strong benchmark rather than a guaranteed exact figure.
What happens if I fail the CCM exam?
You may retake the exam up to two additional times (three attempts total) with a minimum 45-day wait between each attempt, and all attempts must be completed within one year of being approved for candidacy. If you fail all three attempts, you must wait one year from your last attempt before restarting the full application process.
Is employer sponsorship required to sit for the CCM exam?
No. The CCM is an individual credential from CMCI/CMAA, not a sponsored exam like some securities licenses. Candidates apply directly and qualify through documented Responsible-In-Charge (RIC) construction management experience plus education, verified by client/owner references.
Which CCM domains carry the most weight on the exam?
Program and Project Management is the single heaviest domain at roughly 20% of the exam. Cost Management, Time Management, Contract Administration, Quality Management, Safety Management, Risk Management, and Professional Practice each carry roughly 10%, while Sustainability and Technology are the lightest at roughly 5% each.
Where is the CCM exam administered?
The CCM exam is delivered by PSI, either at an in-person PSI test center or via PSI's live remote proctoring option, not through Prometric. Scheduling is handled through PSI's online system after CMCI approves your candidacy.
