Can You Take the WCC Exam?

Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements

Age
Education
Active unrestricted license in an approved profession (RN, LPN/LVN, NP, PT/PTA, OT/OTA, DPM, MD, PA, and others listed by NAWCO) plus either a skin and wound management course of at least 20 hours OR a current CWCN, CWON or CWOCN (WOCNCB) or CWS or CWSP (ABWM) credential, which substitutes for the course
Experience
Either the Preceptor Pathway (120 supervised clinical hours completed AFTER the skin and wound management course, with pathway approval obtained before the course begins and at least one year of licensure) or 2 years full-time / 4 years part-time eligible wound-care experience within the past 5 years
Additional Requirements
  • Must meet one education option and one experience option
  • Up to 4 exam attempts within 2 years, counted from attending the skin and wound management course (or from the original exam date if no course was needed for eligibility)
  • Live Remote Proctoring is available for approved candidates who meet technical requirements
  • Preceptor Pathway sequencing: be licensed at least 1 year, obtain pathway approval BEFORE the course begins, and complete the 120 hours after the course; hours earned before approval or before course completion are not accepted
