Can You Take the RDA Exam?

One Dental Board pathway: board-approved RDA education, work experience, non-board-approved dental assisting education plus work experience, CDA credential, alternative program, preceptorship, or qualifying California dental hygiene licensure
Additional Requirements
  • Pay the nonrefundable $120 Dental Board application fee
  • Complete required courses such as Radiation Safety, Coronal Polishing, Pit and Fissure Sealants, Infection Control, California Dental Practice Act, and Basic Life Support when required by the selected pathway
  • Submit fingerprints for DOJ/FBI background checks
  • Take the combined written and law/ethics examination within 2 years after the Board receives the application
