Universal / Standard Precautions

Universal precautions (also called standard precautions) means you treat all blood and body fluids — from every client, every time — as if they are infectious. You do not make exceptions for clients who “look healthy,” because bloodborne viruses such as hepatitis B and C and HIV can be carried without visible symptoms.
