Can You Take the NBPTS AYA Math Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •Hold a valid state teaching license (or teach in a school where licensure is not required and meet equivalent qualifications)
- •Have completed a minimum of 3 years of teaching at the K-12 or early-childhood level
- •Register for certification through the NBPTS portal and pay the annual registration fee
- •Component 1 is delivered by computer at a Pearson VUE assessment center during published testing windows
- •Candidates may take Components in any order and across multiple cycles within the candidacy window

Function families (linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, piecewise), composition, inverses, domain/range, transformations, and asymptotic behavior.
Unit circle, identities (Pythagorean, double-angle, sum/difference), Law of Sines and Cosines, sinusoidal modeling, and polar representations.
