The separation rules protect a depressurized water main from nearby contamination and protect both pipes from structural failure. PUB2489 generally requires 10 feet horizontally for parallel lines and 18 inches vertically at crossings. Why This Matters Day to Day

  • Repairs must restore the approved standard. A repair must preserve approved bedding, restraint, sanitary separation, disinfection and pressure-testing requirements.
