Theory Test-Day Rules

In the blood exposure section, you act out a scenario in which you get a minor cut on your index finger during a service. The cut is not bad enough to stop the service, and no work area or client has been contaminated. Section 2.3 covers the procedure in detail.
Kit and Supply Rules
Missouri and NIC rules together create these requirements:
- Mannequins only. Missouri does not accept live models. NIC mannequin hands must be an entire hand with no removable digits, and the suggested supply list calls for a hand with artificial nails attached.
- Disinfectant wipes only. Use EPA-registered disinfectant wipes labeled bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal, in the manufacturer's original container. Disinfectant sprays and aerosols are not allowed. You must wear gloves when using disinfectant, and simulated products are not accepted for disinfectants or hand sanitizers.
- English labels. Every product must be labeled in English. Labels may not show the order of use, and you may not label products as single-use.
- Monomer and polymer. Monomer must be low-odor and factory sealed in its original, labeled container. Polymer and any primer must be in original, labeled containers.
- Three disposal containers labeled "To be disinfected," "Soiled linens," and "Trash." Disposal is scored in every section.
- Kit as dry storage. Your kit must stay closed except when you remove items, and nothing may go back into it once removed. Missouri limits kits to 30" × 30", and they must fit under your work area. Other products must be non-aerosol.
Examiners may answer questions only with "Do the best you can with what you have available" or "Do as you were taught." When time is called, stop immediately and turn the hand toward the examiner.
