About the MO Nail Technician Exam
Missouri Class MO manicurist applicants must pass the NIC Nail Technology written and practical examinations administered by Prov. The written examination has 110 items, including 100 weighted items, and a 90-minute limit; the practical has seven core sections performed on a mannequin hand. Missouri requires at least 75 on each examination.

Missouri requires at least 400 hours in a licensed school, including 220 hours of manicuring, hand and arm massage, and nail treatment, or at least 800 hours as an apprentice (RSMo 329.040 and 329.050).
What is the passing score for the Missouri nail technician exams?
Missouri requires a score of at least 75 on the written examination and at least 75 on the practical examination (20 CSR 2085-7.010).
Does Missouri require continuing education to renew a manicurist license?
Missouri's cosmetology renewal rule, 20 CSR 2085-7.040, does not include a continuing-education requirement for operators. Licenses expire September 30 of each odd-numbered year, and the operator renewal fee is $60.
