The exam tests your ability to manipulate these statements logically, understand what they truly mean, and, just as importantly, understand what they do not mean.

Anatomy of an "If-Then" Statement

A conditional statement is composed of two parts: the antecedent (the "if" clause) and the consequent (the "then" clause). Format: If P, then Q. (Often written logically as P → Q).

  • P (Antecedent): The condition that must be met. It is sufficient to guarantee the result.
  • Q (Consequent): The result that absolutely follows if the condition is met. It is necessary if the condition occurred.
