Pathway 1: Professional Experience

• Requirement: A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a patient experience related role, or experience engaging in patient experience efforts from various perspectives.
• Who qualifies: The Handbook explicitly names healthcare professionals, consultants, and patients and family members committed to experience excellence — the credential is deliberately not restricted to hospital employees.
• Note: The Credentialing Center does not publish an hours-based equivalency for the 3-year requirement. Any source quoting a specific hour figure is inventing it.

The "up to 10" trap. The rule is a ceiling on substitution, not a floor on relevance: at most 10 of the 30 hours may come from related CNE/CME. Prep material that states "at least 10 PXEs must link to the blueprint domains" has inverted the rule.
