Can You Take the CBSA OTEE Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •Canadian citizenship or permanent residency required for the border services officer process.
- •A valid, unrestricted Canadian driver's licence (at least class 5, 5F or G); graduated, probationary, and expired licences are not accepted.
- •Willingness to work anywhere in Canada, including rural and remote locations, is a condition of employment.
- •The Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE) is not required for the current CBSA Officer Trainee selection process (2024-EA-OIM-FB-02-009); when it does apply, the obstacle course and push/pull stations must be completed in 4 minutes 45 seconds or less and the 80 lb weight carry is a separate pass-fail station.

Retake Policy
If you receive unsuccessful OTEE results, your candidacy is terminated and you may rewrite the exam one full year after your initial attempt. Rewriting before the one-year waiting period elapses invalidates the new results and restarts the waiting period from that date.
