Can You Take the GDTP Senior Level Exam?

Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements

Age
Education
ASME does not publish a separate education prerequisite for the Senior Level on the opened official page.
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant GD&T professional experience; ASME requires the description to cover work personally performed by the applicant within the last 3 years and to demonstrate independent application of GD&T principles.
Additional Requirements
  • Purchase the Senior Level application/exam package and submit the application through ASME PC-Connect.
  • After ASME accepts the application, schedule the exam through Prometric within the published 180-day eligibility window.
  • Successfully pass the Senior GDTP examination.
  • Technologist certification and ASME membership are not required for Senior Level eligibility.
  • Choose the intended certification basis carefully; ASME states that certification is currently based on either the Y14.5-2009 or the Y14.5-2018 revision, keeps the Y14.5M-1994 exam available on request, and confirms that passing one revision does not certify any other.
