Phase 1: APP Candidate Handbook & OutlineYou are here
Read the ASIS APP Candidate Handbook and current exam outline. Map the four domain weightings (Security Fundamentals ~35%, Business Operations ~22%, Risk Management ~25%, Response Management ~18%).
Phase 2: Security Fundamentals
Work the ASIS Protection of Assets (POA) Physical Security and Information Asset Protection volumes plus ESRM Guideline foundations.
Phase 3: Business Operations
Study budgeting (CapEx/OpEx), PMBOK basics (RACI, triple constraint), HR fundamentals including FCRA/EEOC, ADDIE, Kirkpatrick, records management, and vendor management (RFP/SOW/SLA).
Phase 4: Risk Management
Drill the ESRM cycle, T×V×C and ALE/SLE/ARO, treatment options, BIA/RTO/RPO, CARVER, NIST SP 800-30, risk registers, and appetite vs. tolerance.
Phase 5: Response Management
Cover ICS/NIMS, EOC, ISO 22301, NFPA 1600, ASIS WVPI.1 and Active Assailant standards, SCCT crisis communications, and insider threat (CERT/NITTF).
Phase 6: Timed Practice & Weak-Area Review
Use 125-question timed simulations (2 hours), grade by domain, and remediate the lowest two domains with targeted reading and re-tests until you score 80%+ consistently.
