Can You Take the MFT Exam?

Retake Policy
A candidate may sit for the examination only once in a given calendar quarter. Retaking requires a new application, a new approval code from your state board, and the full $370 fee. AMFTRB recommends waiting at least one year after three failures. Moving to a different testing period costs a one-time $180 transfer fee; rescheduling within your existing testing period 5-29 days out costs $50 paid to Prometric. Some states add their own rules, such as New Jersey's six-month statutory wait.

Incorporating systemic theory and perspectives into practice activities, and establishing and maintaining ongoing therapeutic relationships with the client system inclusive of diverse cultural contexts.
Assessing and conceptualizing the dimensions of the client system, forming and reformulating systemic hypotheses, and diagnosing to guide therapeutic activities, including use of artificial intelligence as appropriate.
