About the ECZ Science 5124 Exam
Zambia School Certificate / GCE Science (5124) is the Examinations Council of Zambia combined-science subject for Grade 12 and GCE candidates who do not take separate Physics (5054), Chemistry (5070) or Biology (5090). The Ministry of Education Curriculum Development Centre Grades 10–12 Science syllabus (2013) is written for those pupils and is organised as Physics (measurements, mechanics, thermal physics, waves, light, sound, magnetism, electricity, electronics, radioactivity) plus Chemistry (matter, experimental techniques, atoms and bonding, acids/bases/salts, the mole, rates and energetics, the Periodic Table, metals, non-metals, simple organic chemistry). The 2026 School Certificate timetable sets 5124/1 Science 1 (2 hours) on Friday 6 November 2026 at 11:30 and 5124/2 Science 2 (2 hours) on Monday 9 November 2026 at 08:00. Non-programmable calculators are permitted. Official papers mix objective and structured written questions; item counts are not published. This OpenExamPrep bank is a free English-language four-option MCQ study aid covering that combined-science depth, including life processes, ecology, air/water and laboratory safety. It is not an official ECZ paper and does not replace structured answers or school-based practical work.
Assessment
Two written papers: 5124/1 Science 1 (2 hours; physics-weighted combined science) and 5124/2 Science 2 (2 hours; chemistry-weighted combined science). Official papers mix multiple-choice and structured questions. Non-programmable calculators are allowed. The CDC syllabus also includes school-based assessment. Science 5124 is for candidates not taking separate Physics 5054 or Chemistry 5070.
Time Limit
