The VTCAP Grade 6 Mathematics assessment measures student mastery of Grade 6 Common Core State Standards. The test evaluates skills across ratios and proportional reasoning, fraction and decimal arithmetic, rational numbers, algebraic expressions and linear equations, geometric measurement of area, volume, and surface area, and statistical data analysis.

The official VTCAP Grade 6 mathematics test is computer-adaptive, delivered in two sessions, and reports three content indicators — Ratios and Proportional Relationships; The Number System with Expressions and Equations; Geometry with Statistics and Probability — plus two Mathematical Practices indicators. Machine-scored items target 5-25% DOK 1, 50-80% DOK 2 and 5-30% DOK 3.
