About the VTCAP Grade 4 Math Exam
Statewide assessment for Vermont Grade 4 public school students evaluating mathematical proficiency across multi-digit computation, fraction equivalence and operations, decimal concepts, measurement conversion, perimeter and area, angle measurement, and geometric classification.
Assessment
The official VTCAP Grade 4 mathematics test is computer-adaptive and reports three content indicators — Operations and Algebraic Thinking; Number and Operations in Base Ten with Fractions; Measurement and Data with Geometry — plus two Mathematical Practices indicators. It is delivered in two sessions and includes four human-scored constructed responses. Target 10-16 of 51 operational points. Equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, fraction addition/subtraction with like denominators, multiplying fractions by whole numbers, and decimal notation for tenths/hundredths.
Number and Operations in Base Ten
Target 8-10 of 51 operational points. Place value up to 1,000,000, rounding, multi-digit addition/subtraction, 4-digit by 1-digit and 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication, and 4-digit by 1-digit division.
Measurement and Data
Target 6-10 of 51 operational points. Unit conversions (length, weight, volume, time), perimeter and area of rectangles, line plots, and angle measurement with protractors.
