About the CCEA DT Multimedia Exam
CCEA GCSE Digital Technology (Multimedia) is the Northern Ireland GCSE digital authoring qualification set by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment. First teaching was September 2017 (specification updated September 2019; subject codes 2650 and 2610; QAN 603/1122/8). Students complete the compulsory Unit 1: Digital Technology core, then the Multimedia route Units 2 and 3 (Digital Authoring Concepts and Digital Authoring Practice). Unit weights for the Multimedia cash-in are Unit 1 30%, Unit 2 40% and Unit 3 30%. Units 1 and 2 are external written examinations; Unit 3 is controlled assessment in which candidates design, build, test and evaluate a digital multimedia solution (typically website and database work). This bank provides original single-best-answer MCQ practice across Units 1–3 knowledge only. Official papers are not pure MCQ, and controlled authoring practice is not simulated — complete CCEA past papers for Units 1–2 and the full Unit 3 task for authentic preparation.
