1A traffic controller orders a freight truck to stop, although its traffic light is green. Which instruction governs?
A.The green light until it changes
B.The priority-road sign
C.The traffic controller's stop instruction
D.The lane-direction marking
Explanation: The traffic controller's instruction takes precedence over traffic lights, signs, and markings. Stop as directed even though the green light would otherwise permit movement.
2A truck is in the rightmost lane at a red light with a fixed green right-arrow plate. Pedestrians are lawfully crossing the road it would enter. What should the driver do?
A.Turn because the plate gives priority
B.Yield to the pedestrians and other entitled traffic before turning
C.Wait for green because the plate never permits movement on red
D.Turn once the nearest pedestrian has passed the cab
Explanation: The fixed arrow plate permits the indicated turn on red from the required edge lane, subject to yielding. It does not give priority over pedestrians or traffic moving on a permitted signal.
3Two non-rail vehicles approach an uncontrolled intersection of equivalent roads, with no roundabout or special priority. Which vehicle must a truck driver yield to?
A.The lighter vehicle
B.The vehicle approaching from the right
C.The vehicle approaching from the left
D.The vehicle that arrived later
Explanation: Among non-rail vehicles on equivalent roads, the driver yields to traffic approaching from the right. Vehicle size and arrival order do not determine priority.
4A truck and a tram have conflicting paths at an uncontrolled intersection of equivalent roads that is not a roundabout. Which has priority?
A.The truck if the tram approaches from its left
B.The tram regardless of its direction of movement
C.The truck if it is going straight
D.The vehicle that enters first
Explanation: At this type of equivalent-road intersection, the tram has priority over non-rail vehicles regardless of its direction. Roundabouts and unequal-road approaches require their own priority rules.
5At an uncontrolled roundabout marked with the circular-traffic sign, a truck is entering while a car is already circulating. Who must yield?
A.The circulating car
B.The entering truck
C.The vehicle with fewer axles
D.The vehicle on the wider approach
Explanation: Traffic already moving around the uncontrolled roundabout has priority. The entering truck must wait for a safe opportunity without obstructing circulating traffic.
6A van stops just before an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing in the lane beside a truck, hiding part of the crossing. What should the truck driver do?
A.Continue if nobody is visible directly ahead
B.Pass while sounding the horn
C.Slow or stop and proceed only after checking for pedestrians
D.Change lanes beyond the van without reducing speed
Explanation: A stopped vehicle can conceal a pedestrian crossing into the truck's path. Drivers in adjacent lanes must reduce speed and stop if necessary, continuing only after ensuring pedestrians are not endangered.
7A truck has a registered permissible maximum mass of 12 tonnes but currently weighs 7 tonnes. It approaches sign 3.3 displaying an 8-tonne limit. Assuming no exemption applies, may it enter?
A.Yes, because its actual mass is below 8 tonnes
B.No, because its permissible maximum mass exceeds 8 tonnes
C.Yes, if its payload is below 8 tonnes
D.Yes, if each axle carries less than 8 tonnes
Explanation: The truck-prohibition sign with a mass figure uses permissible maximum mass. The truck's 12-tonne registered limit exceeds the sign even though its current actual mass is lower.
8A bridge approach displays an axle-load-limit sign showing 6 tonnes. What must a truck driver compare with that value?
A.The truck's total registered mass
B.The actual load on each axle
C.The cargo mass divided equally by the number of wheels
D.The manufacturer's maximum payload alone
Explanation: The axle-load sign restricts actual load on an axle. Compliance with a total vehicle mass limit does not prove that every axle is within its separate limit.
9A train is approaching a crossing that has no stop line, stop sign, barrier, or traffic signal. How close to the nearest rail may the truck stop?
A.At least 5 metres away
B.At least 10 metres away
C.At least 15 metres away in every case
D.With its front wheels just short of the rail
Explanation: Where none of the specified traffic-control devices is present, the stopping position is at least 10 metres before the nearest rail. At equipped crossings, obey the designated stopping position and signals.
10How far before a railway crossing does the Ukrainian prohibition on overtaking begin?
A.Only at the first rail
B.100 metres before the crossing
C.50 metres before the crossing
D.Only at a lowered barrier
Explanation: Overtaking is prohibited on the railway crossing and within 100 metres before it. A raised barrier does not cancel this approach restriction.

Ukraine Theory Test C: Suggested Study Strategy

1Study the current official questions as well as these independent explanations.
2Practise judging permissible maximum mass separately from actual axle load.
3Work the reaction-distance and pressure-loss calculations with units.
4Use the truck manufacturer's procedures for vehicle-specific systems.
5Complete practical driving and first-aid training; MCQs cannot demonstrate those skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the official theory format, fee, and pass standard?

The computer test has 20 questions in 20 minutes. At least 18 correct answers are required. The theory fee is 250 UAH per attempt, excluding payment commission.

Is this the official English question bank?

No. OpenExamPrep provides an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation. HSC MIA publishes its own questions; official English testing is available to legally present foreign and stateless candidates, while Ukrainian remains the general assessment language.

What are the first-time Category C eligibility and practical requirements?

The minimum age is 18. Prepare for and pass theory, then complete accredited practical training, its internal practical assessment, and the state driving test. Bring the required identity, tax-registration and medical-fitness documents. School fees are provider-specific.

Does every existing driver need another theory test for C?

No. HSC MIA describes a wartime route for qualifying Category B drivers with at least three years of driving experience that requires retraining and practical testing without another theory test. That is an eligibility exception, not proof that the Category C theory assessment does not exist.

Are C and C1 the same licence?

No. C1 covers the lighter goods-vehicle category and C covers vehicles over 7,500 kg. Shared subject matter or a higher-category exam when categories are opened together does not make every category-specific licensing route identical.
