1In the Turkish sentence 'Yazarın son romanındaki sıcak anlatım, okurların ilgisini hemen çekti', what is the semantic role of the word 'sıcak' (warm)?
A.Literal sensory meaning (gerçek anlam) indicating high physical temperature
B.Figurative meaning (mecaz anlam) denoting sincere, cordial, and engaging prose
C.Specialized technical term (terim anlam) used exclusively in literary criticism
D.Opposite meaning (zıt anlam) functioning as an ironic contradiction
Explanation: In this context, 'sıcak' does not denote physical heat or temperature. Instead, it is used figuratively (mecaz anlam) to characterize the author's writing style as affectionate, friendly, and emotionally resonant.
2Which of the following Turkish idioms (deyimler) means 'to prepare thoroughly and exert great effort in advance of an important challenge'?
A.Kolları sıvamak
B.Gözden düşmek
C.Kulak kabartmak
D.Ağzı açık kalmak
Explanation: 'Kolları sıvamak' literally means to roll up one's sleeves. As an idiom, it means to get ready to tackle a task or begin work with determination.
3In Turkish sentence semantics, which sentence conveys a relationship of 'purpose-result' (amaç-sonuç) rather than 'cause-effect' (neden-sonuç)?
A.Kar yağdığı için köy yolları ulaşıma tamamen kapandı.
B.Sınavı kazandığından dolayı ailesi büyük bir sevinç yaşadı.
C.Askerî mülakata hazırlanmak üzere sabah erken saatlerde kalktı.
D.Gözleri yorulduğu için kitaba bir süre ara vermek zorunda kaldı.
Explanation: The phrase 'hazırlanmak üzere' expresses the intended goal or objective of waking up early ('amacıyla'). The other three options describe completed occurrences that caused a subsequent result ('için' / '-dığından dolayı').
4Which of the following Turkish statements is an entirely objective assertion (nesnel yargı) verifiable by empirical observation or factual evidence?
A.Şairin bu dizelerinde okuyucuyu derinden sarsan büyüleyici bir ahenk vardır.
B.Sonbaharın hüznü, şehrin sokaklarına tarifsiz bir güzellik katıyor.
C.Klasik Türk müziği, dinleyen herkesin ruhuna huzur veren en eşsiz sanattır.
D.Bu kitap üç bölümden oluşmaktadır.
Explanation: The number of sections in a book can be checked by examining it. This makes the statement objective (nesnel), whereas the other choices express aesthetic judgments.
5Consider the following Turkish passage: 'Disiplin, bireyin kendi isteklerini körü körüne bastırması değil; uzun vadeli hedeflerine ulaşmak için anlık heveslerini yönetebilme becerisidir. Zorluklar karşısında yılmayan askerî ve akademik liderlerin ortak noktası, bu içsel kontrol mekanizmasını bir hayat tarzı haline getirmiş olmalarıdır.' What is the primary thesis (ana fikir) of this passage?
A.True discipline is the voluntary ability to manage immediate impulses in pursuit of enduring goals.
B.Discipline is primarily an external code enforced through military regulations and strict punishment.
C.Suppression of all personal desires is necessary for achieving academic and military advancement.
D.Long-term goals are easily accomplished once external obstacles have been removed.
Explanation: The author defines discipline as managing short-term impulses in pursuit of long-term goals. The reference to an internal control mechanism supports this central idea rather than external punishment or suppression of every desire.
6Read this original Turkish passage: 'Kent kütüphaneleri, kitap ödünç vermenin ötesinde farklı öğrenme ihtiyaçlarına da cevap verir. Örneğin bazı kütüphanelerde görme engelli okurlar için sesli kitap odaları bulunur. Çalışma alanları ve erişilebilir kaynaklar, bu kurumları daha geniş bir kesim için yararlı kılar.' Which statement identifies the specific supporting example (yardımcı düşünce) rather than the passage's general claim?
A.City libraries meet several kinds of learning needs beyond lending books.
B.Some libraries provide audio-book rooms for readers with visual impairments.
C.Accessible resources can make libraries useful to a wider community.
D.The passage evaluates whether study areas are more useful than lending services.
Explanation: The audio-book room is a concrete example introduced by 'Örneğin' (for example). It supports the broader claim that libraries serve varied learning needs.
7Read the following sentences numbered (I) to (V): '(I) Teknolojik gelişmeler, haberleşme sistemlerinin hızını ve güvenliğini benzersiz bir düzeye ulaştırmıştır. (II) Modern ordular, sahadaki bilgi akışını anlık uydu bağlantılarıyla koordine etmektedir. (III) Tarihte posta güvercinlerinin beslenme alışkanlıkları üzerine pek çok araştırma yapılmıştır. (IV) Bu kesintisiz veri iletimi, komutanların stratejik kararları hızla almasını sağlar. (V) Dolayısıyla ağ merkezli harekât kabiliyeti günümüz savunma doktrinlerinin merkezinde yer alır.' Which sentence disrupts the coherent flow of thought (düşüncenin akışını bozan cümle)?
A.Sentence I
B.Sentence II
C.Sentence III
D.Sentence IV
Explanation: Sentences I, II, IV, and V describe contemporary digital communication networks, satellite coordination, and network-centric operations in military decision-making. Sentence III abruptly introduces trivia about the diet of carrier pigeons, breaking the contextual and thematic progression.
8Read this original passage: '(I) Okul kütüphanesi geçen yıl daha geniş bir binaya taşındı. Where should a second paragraph begin to separate the building's facilities from the reading club's activities?
A.Sentence II
B.Sentence III
C.Sentence V
D.Sentence IV
Explanation: Sentences I and II describe the building and its facilities. Sentence III introduces the reading club, whose activities and learning benefits are developed in IV to VI.
9In a critical essay, the author examines modern consumption culture by writing: 'Her şeyi hızla tüketen günümüz insanı, okuduğu kitapları bile bir an önce bitirip rafa kaldırma yarışına giriyor; oysa hakiki bir eser, sindirilerek ve üzerine derin tefekkür edilerek okunmalıdır.' What is the author's primary tone and attitude?
A.Critical and advisory (eleştirel ve yol gösterici)
B.Humorous and satirical (mizahi ve alaycı)
C.Completely objective and neutral (tamamen nesnel ve tarafsız)
D.Pessimistic and despairing (karamsar ve umutsuz)
Explanation: The phrase 'yarışına giriyor' criticizes hurried reading. The recommendation to read thoughtfully and reflect on a work makes the tone advisory as well as critical.
10In Turkish morphology, consider 'Öğretmenimiz, öğrencilerin yazılarını büyük bir titizlikle inceledi.' Which suffix listed below creates a noun from a verb (fiilden isim yapım eki)?
A.The '-lik' suffix in 'titizlik'
B.The '-ı' suffix in 'yazı'
C.The '-ler' suffix in 'yazılarını'
D.The '-in' suffix in 'öğrencilerin'
Explanation: The noun 'yazı' is formed from the verb root 'yaz-' (to write) with the derivational suffix '-ı'. The suffix changes a verb into a noun; it is not the accusative ending of an already existing noun in this word-formation analysis.

MSÜ: Suggested Study Strategy

1Manage your time carefully across the 165-minute test: aim for approximately 1.35 minutes per question.
2Distinguish our four-option study interface from the official five-option paper. Official raw scores subtract one-quarter of the wrong-answer count before standardization; practise careful elimination and time management.
3Prioritize paragraph comprehension and core problem-solving: Türkçe and Basic Mathematics make up two-thirds of the entire test.
4Review high-frequency social and natural science topics such as Atatürk's principles, Turkish physical geography, mechanics, atomic structure, and cell biology.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the format of the official MSÜ exam?

Candidates answer 120 five-option questions in 165 minutes: 40 Türkçe, 40 Temel Matematik, 20 Sosyal Bilimler and 20 Fen Bilimleri. Candidates eligible for exemption from religious-culture items answer five alternative philosophy questions. Physical testing, health assessment and an oral interview follow for candidates continuing through selection; air-force and band-school routes have additional assessments.

Does the MSÜ exam include negative marking?

Yes. On the official ÖSYM MSÜ exam, four incorrect answers cancel one correct answer in each test section (net score = correct - wrong / 4). Blank questions do not affect the score.

Do MSÜ candidates also need to take the YKS?

Yes. To be admitted to military academies or NCO vocational schools, candidates must take both the MSÜ exam and the relevant sessions of ÖSYM's YKS (TYT for Astsubay MYO; TYT and AYT for Harp Okulları).

Is this practice bank an official test simulation?

No. This is an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation by OpenExamPrep, not an official translation or a simulation of the official Turkish-language, five-option exam. Turkish passages and examples remain where language skills are the subject. MCQs also do not replace physical, oral, medical, psychomotor or music assessment preparation.
