1Which divine attribute means that Allah's existence has no beginning?
A.Baqa
B.Qidam
C.Wahdaniyyah
D.Qiyam bi-nafsihi
Explanation: Qidam means beginninglessness or pre-eternity. It differs from baqa, which concerns existence without an end.
2In the classification used in Diyanet's İlmihal, which is a positive attribute (sifat al-thubutiyyah) of Allah?
A.Wujud (existence)
B.Mukhalafah li al-hawadith (non-resemblance to creation)
C.Wahdaniyyah (oneness)
D.Hayat (life)
Explanation: Hayat is classified as a positive attribute, expressing divine life. The other listed terms belong to the personal attributes in this classification.
3Which prophetic attribute specifically denotes trustworthiness and the faithful discharge of a trust?
A.Amanah
B.Sidq
C.Fatanah
D.Tabligh
Explanation: Amanah denotes trustworthiness and freedom from betrayal. Sidq concerns truthfulness, while tabligh concerns conveying the divine message.
4What term describes the life between a person's death and resurrection in Islamic teaching?
A.Hashr
B.Mizan
C.Barzakh
D.Sirat
Explanation: Barzakh is the intermediate life that begins with death and continues until resurrection. It is distinct from the subsequent gathering and judgment.
5A student asks how Maturidi theology connects divine creation of human acts with human responsibility. Which explanation best expresses that position?
A.People create voluntary acts independently of divine creation
B.Allah creates acts, while people choose and acquire their voluntary acts through kasb
C.People have no effective choice and are responsible only figuratively
D.Divine creation applies to involuntary acts, while voluntary acts have no creator
Explanation: The Maturidi account distinguishes human choice and acquisition, or kasb, from divine creation. Human responsibility rests on the person's voluntary choice; belief in divine creation does not remove that responsibility.
6Which comparison correctly describes the usual Maturidi–Ash'ari distinction concerning takwin?
A.Both identify takwin with the attribute of hearing
B.Ash'aris affirm takwin as a separate eternal attribute, while Maturidis reject that distinction
C.Both classify takwin as a personal attribute meaning self-subsistence
D.Maturidis affirm takwin as a distinct eternal attribute; Ash'aris explain creation through divine power without that separate eternal attribute
Explanation: Maturidi theology distinguishes the eternal attribute of takwin, or bringing into being, from the created things that result. Ash'ari theology does not posit takwin as an additional eternal attribute distinct from divine power.
7In classical kalam terminology, what distinguishes irhas from a mu'jizah used to establish a prophetic claim?
A.Irhas is associated with a future prophet before the prophetic mission begins
B.Irhas is an extraordinary event associated with a righteous follower of a prophet
C.Irhas is extraordinary assistance given to an ordinary believer in distress
D.Irhas is an apparent extraordinary success that draws a wrongdoer further into error
Explanation: Irhas denotes an extraordinary event associated with a future prophet before the prophetic mission. The timing and connection with prophethood distinguish it from the other named categories.
8Using the qadar–qada terminology presented in Diyanet's İlmihal, how should a student distinguish divine determination from its realization?
A.Qada is pre-eternal determination, and qadar is its realization in time
B.Qadar concerns voluntary actions only, and qada concerns natural events only
C.Qadar is pre-eternal determination, and qada is creation in accordance with it when its time arrives
D.Qadar refers to human intention, and qada refers to a person's later acquisition of the act
Explanation: In this formulation, qadar concerns divine knowledge and determination, while qada concerns bringing the determined event into existence. Terminology varies among theological authors, so the named formulation matters.
9Which action is fard in wudu according to Hanafi jurisprudence?
A.Rinsing the mouth
B.Washing the face
C.Rinsing the nose
D.Beginning with the right limbs
Explanation: Washing the face is one of the obligatory components of wudu in Hanafi jurisprudence. Mouth and nose rinsing are sunnah in wudu, although their classification in ghusl differs.
10For someone praying alone, how does Hanafi jurisprudence classify reciting al-Fatihah in the first two rak'ahs of a four-rak'ah obligatory prayer?
A.Fard specifically as al-Fatihah
B.Sunnah mu'akkadah
C.Mustahabb
D.Wajib
Explanation: Hanafi jurisprudence classifies the specified recitation of al-Fatihah as wajib. This differs from the general obligation of Quranic recitation and should not be confused with the rules for a follower behind an imam or for later rak'ahs.

About the DHBT Exam

KPSS DHBT is the religious-services field-knowledge test used in Diyanet recruitment. ÖSYM administers 40 questions in 60 minutes, with common religious knowledge and an education-level-specific half. DHBT: Suggested Study Strategy

1Use the official curriculum for your education level when studying DHBT-2; the levels do not share an identical specialty paper.
2Study Islamic ethics alongside belief, worship, Quranic knowledge, and siyer for DHBT-1.
3Distinguish Hanafi rules from other schools and read the conditions of a ruling before applying it.
4Use current Din İşleri Yüksek Kurulu guidance when a contemporary ruling differs from a historical measure or formulation.
5Practice Turkish terminology and Quran recitation with suitable teaching resources in addition to these English explanations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the official format and assessment languages?

DHBT is a Turkish-language written MCQ test; Quranic Arabic is retained where it is part of the tested material. ÖSYM's released booklet shows five answer choices per item. Our four-option English-language MCQs are a study adaptation, not an official translation or format simulation.

Who may take DHBT?

Candidates must satisfy their KPSS education-level conditions and Diyanet's announced conditions, and take KPSS General Ability–General Culture and DHBT at the same level. Eligibility to sit an examination does not guarantee eligibility for a particular vacancy. Check the relevant guide and recruitment notice.

How is the result calculated?

Raw scores subtract one quarter of incorrect answers from correct answers. Standardized results combine General Ability (15%), General Culture (15%), DHBT-1 (30%), and DHBT-2 (40%). These are scoring weights, not subject question percentages. The guide requires at least one net raw point in each relevant test for score calculation; that condition is not a recruitment pass mark.

Does DHBT alone qualify someone for appointment?

No. Diyanet notices specify education, score year, thresholds, and additional conditions. Its 2026 imam-hatip and Quran-course teacher recruitment notice, for example, specifies a separate oral assessment and subsequent Diyanet Academy training. MCQs do not replace Quran recitation or speaking practice.

What does this bank cover?

The bank contains 30 DHBT-1 study items and 30 DHBT-2 study items across the official broad headings, including ethics and comparative religion. Individual subject shares are editorial study choices because ÖSYM does not publish DHBT subtopic percentages in the 2026 guide. It samples common concepts rather than claiming full coverage of every education level.
