1Under the Conceptual Framework used in Thai financial reporting, which pair comprises the fundamental qualitative characteristics of useful financial information?
A.Relevance and faithful representation
B.Comparability and verifiability
C.Timeliness and understandability
D.Relevance and comparability
Explanation: Relevance concerns information's capacity to influence decisions, while faithful representation concerns depicting the substance of the phenomenon completely, neutrally and without error. Comparability, verifiability, timeliness and understandability enhance usefulness.
2Which cost formula is not permitted by TAS 2 for ordinarily interchangeable inventory?
A.First-in, first-out
B.Last-in, first-out
C.Periodic weighted average
D.Moving weighted average
Explanation: TAS 2 permits FIFO and weighted-average cost for ordinarily interchangeable inventory. LIFO is not a permitted formula; specific identification applies to appropriate non-interchangeable or specifically designated items.
3Inventory in its current condition costs THB 500,000. Selling price after further finishing is THB 540,000; finishing costs are THB 30,000 and necessary selling costs THB 40,000. Under TAS 2, what write-down is required?
A.THB 0
B.THB 40,000
C.THB 30,000
D.THB 70,000
Explanation: Net realizable value is THB 540,000 − THB 30,000 − THB 40,000 = THB 470,000. Comparing this with THB 500,000 cost gives a THB 30,000 write-down.
4Equipment available for use on 1 January has a THB 1,200,000 frame with a ten-year life and a THB 800,000 engine with a four-year life. Both are significant components with zero residual value. Under TAS 16, what is first-year straight-line depreciation?
A.THB 200,000
B.THB 500,000
C.THB 285,714
D.THB 320,000
Explanation: Significant components with different useful lives are depreciated separately. Frame depreciation is THB 120,000 and engine depreciation THB 200,000, totaling THB 320,000.
5A lessee begins a five-year office lease under TFRS 16. There are no prepayments, incentives, initial direct costs or restoration obligations, and no exemption applies. What is recognized initially?
A.A right-of-use asset and lease liability, each equal to the present value of unpaid lease payments
B.Only annual rental expense with no asset or liability
C.An asset at undiscounted rent and a liability at discounted rent
D.A liability without a corresponding asset
Explanation: TFRS 16 generally recognizes both a lease liability and right-of-use asset at commencement. The specified absence of other cost adjustments makes the initial asset equal to the discounted unpaid lease payments.
6A lessee owes THB 100,000 at each of three year-ends. The implicit rate cannot readily be determined and its appropriate incremental borrowing rate is 10%. Use the supplied three-year annuity factor 2.4868. What initial lease liability is recognized under TFRS 16?
A.THB 300,000
B.THB 248,680
C.THB 270,000
D.THB 273,548
Explanation: Unpaid lease payments are discounted at the appropriate rate. THB 100,000 × 2.4868 = THB 248,680; the first payment occurs at the end of Year 1, so this is an ordinary annuity.
7Plant has THB 1,200,000 accounting carrying amount and THB 800,000 tax base because of accelerated tax depreciation. No recognition exception applies. At an enacted 20% rate, what deferred tax balance is required by TAS 12?
A.THB 80,000 deferred tax asset
B.THB 240,000 deferred tax liability
C.THB 80,000 deferred tax liability
D.THB 160,000 deferred tax asset
Explanation: Recovering the asset creates a taxable temporary difference of THB 1,200,000 − THB 800,000 = THB 400,000. At 20%, the deferred tax liability is THB 80,000.
8Under TAS 19, where are actuarial gains and losses from remeasuring a defined-benefit post-employment plan recognized?
A.In profit or loss using the corridor method
B.As a deferred asset until retirement
C.In profit or loss when contributions are paid
D.Immediately in OCI, without later recycling to profit or loss
Explanation: Remeasurements of the net defined-benefit liability or asset are recognized in other comprehensive income. They are not subsequently reclassified to profit or loss, although transfers within equity are permitted.
9Without a fair-value designation, which conditions support amortized-cost classification of a debt asset under TFRS 9?
A.A hold-to-collect business model and contractual cash flows solely of principal and interest
B.A trading business model and a high credit rating
C.Management's wish to avoid fair-value volatility alone
D.A hold-to-collect-and-sell model regardless of contractual cash flows
Explanation: Amortized-cost classification requires both the hold-to-collect business model and the solely-payments-of-principal-and-interest cash-flow condition. Credit quality or a preferred accounting outcome alone does not establish classification.
10A loan within TFRS 9's general impairment model has a significant increase in credit risk since initial recognition but is not credit-impaired. What loss allowance is required at Stage 2?
A.Twelve-month expected credit losses
B.Lifetime expected credit losses
C.Only losses on defaults already incurred
D.No allowance until interest is overdue
Explanation: Stage 2 recognizes lifetime expected credit losses following a significant increase in credit risk. The expected-loss model does not wait for actual default before recognizing an allowance.

Thailand Certified Public Accountant examination: Suggested Study Strategy

1Use the separate current outline for each of the six papers; this introductory overview does not cover every listed topic.
2Solve complete handwritten problems and explain conclusions in Thai, with precise technical terminology.
3Review the current Accounting 2 insurance-contract material, revised group-audit requirements and the updated computer-auditing material identified by TFAC.
4Keep private-company dividend-related reserve rules distinct from public-company annual profit appropriation requirements.
5Reconcile accounting profit to taxable profit and check all conditions for dividend exclusions, VAT credits and tax concessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Thailand CPA one combined examination paper?

No. TFAC schedules and assesses Accounting 1, Accounting 2, Auditing 1, Auditing 2 and two Laws relating to auditing practice papers separately. This page is a broad qualification overview, not a replacement for paper-specific preparation.

How long can passed subjects be retained?

The current TFAC candidate instructions state a maximum seven-year accumulation period under the amendment effective in July 2024. The former four-year rule should not be used for current planning.

What training is required?

Approved audit training is required separately from examination passes. The ordinary minimum for licensing is three years and 3,000 hours; entry to Auditing 1 and 2 requires at least one year and 1,000 hours. TFAC must verify each applicant's eligibility and training records.

What language and assessment format does this practice reproduce?

It does not reproduce the official sitting. TFAC requires written answers in Thai except for English technical terms, using objective answer sheets and handwritten subjective responses. This is an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation, not an official translation or substitute for written or practical work.
