1A private client asks a registered znalec to act in a discipline outside their recorded odbor and odvetvie. There is no special public-authority appointment. What should the expert check first?
A.Whether their registered scope permits the requested act
B.Whether the client accepts a larger professional fee
C.Whether the expert's insurer is willing to pay any claim
D.Whether another expert will lend their official stamp
Explanation: Sections 4 and 11 of Act No. 382/2004 Z. z. connect registered authority to the relevant field and branch. Private consent, insurance and another person's stamp do not extend that authority; the statute separately addresses public-authority appointments.
2Which statement accurately describes the education condition for expert registration in § 5(1)(c) of Act No. 382/2004 Z. z.?
A.A law degree is required for every technical discipline
B.Normally relevant second-cycle university education, or the highest education obtainable in the field where the statutory alternative applies
C.Any university degree regardless of the requested branch
D.A doctorate is mandatory whenever the work is for a criminal court
Explanation: The education must relate to the field or branch requested. The statute provides the highest-obtainable-education alternative, so an unconditional master's-degree requirement for every field would be too broad.
3Under the standard expert-registration route in § 5(1)(e), what relevant practice is required?
A.Five years, including all undergraduate study
B.At least seven years of practice in the field after obtaining the relevant education
C.Three years after any professional examination
D.Seven years in any occupation, including unrelated administrative work
Explanation: The standard expert condition requires at least seven years of relevant field practice after obtaining the education. It differs from the five-year wording applicable to the other professions in the same provision and from separate recognition routes.
4No registered expert can perform a necessary act without disproportionate difficulty or cost. Under § 15, what permits a suitable unregistered person to act in that proceeding?
A.A private client's designation alone
B.A professional association's recommendation without appointment
C.The person's previous experience alone, without consent or oath
D.Appointment by the court or other public authority, the person's consent and qualifications, and the required oath
Explanation: Section 15 permits an ad hoc appointment under specified conditions when registered expertise is absent or unsuitable in the statutory sense. The person must meet the necessary prerequisites, consent and take the oath before the appointing authority; this does not confer general registration.
5Which insurance statement follows from § 9 for a registered expert?
A.Liability insurance must cover the period of performance; insurance need not continue during formally interrupted activity
B.Insurance is optional until the first damages claim
C.Insurance is required only for assignments from criminal courts
D.Registration itself provides state-funded insurance for all acts
Explanation: Section 9 makes insurance a condition of performing registered activity and requires it throughout performance. It expressly excuses insurance during interruption of activity, so continuous insurance throughout every day of registration is an overstatement.
6Which is an expressly permitted use of an expert's official stamp under § 10(3), in addition to authenticating the expert act and its binding label?
A.Endorsing an unrelated commercial advertisement
B.Stamping the fee statement (vyúčtovanie)
C.Certifying a colleague's private loan agreement
D.Authorizing a client's general corporate correspondence
Explanation: Section 10(3) includes the fee statement among the authorized uses. The official stamp is restricted to the prescribed purposes rather than serving as a general commercial endorsement.
7A colleague offers to use an expert's identification card and official stamp while the expert is away. Which response follows § 10(5)?
A.Permit use if the colleague has the same university degree
B.Permit use if the colleague promises to record the act later
C.Refuse to provide the identification signs to another person
D.Permit use if the client agrees in writing
Explanation: Section 10(5) prohibits providing identification signs to another person. Qualifications or client consent do not turn another person's use into the registered expert's personal performance.
8An expert's activity is formally interrupted under § 7b. A court sends a new assignment in the expert's usual branch. What follows from § 12(2)(d) and (4)?
A.The expert must refuse and promptly give the court a written explanation
B.The expert may act if they omit the official stamp
C.The expert may accept and delegate all analysis to a consultant
D.Court appointment automatically ends the interruption
Explanation: Formal interruption is an express mandatory refusal ground. For a public-authority assignment, the expert must promptly notify that authority in writing with reasons; branch competence does not override the interrupted status.
9Which function characterizes a znalecký ústav under § 19?
A.A scientific and professional methodological center handling particularly difficult cases requiring special scientific assessment
B.A licensing office for every independent expert
C.An appellate court deciding all challenges to expert evidence
D.A trade association that only negotiates private fees
Explanation: An expert institute is a specialized scientific and professional workplace with a methodological role in its registered field. Its expert work particularly includes difficult cases requiring special scientific assessment; it does not acquire judicial appellate powers.
10There is a genuine dispute whether a requested act belongs to the field or branch in which an expert is registered. Who assesses that classification under § 11(4)?
A.The paying party conclusively
B.The Ministry of Justice
C.The expert's insurer conclusively
D.The professional association that recommends a fee
Explanation: Section 11(4) assigns assessment of whether an act falls within registered scope to the Ministry. This is distinct from the appointing court's decision on exclusion for bias or justified refusal in its proceeding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this practice simulate the official court expert examination?

No. This independent English-language MCQ study adaptation covers selected common professional knowledge. The official examination is in Slovak and includes ten legal-test questions with four true/false assertions each, a branch-specific case study and oral supplementary questions. These MCQs do not replace the case study or oral practice and do not reproduce the official language environment.

Who is eligible to register as a court expert in Slovakia?

The standard route includes full legal capacity, statutory good character, relevant second-cycle education or the statutory highest-obtainable alternative, seven years of relevant practice after education, odborné minimum, the expert examination, adequate equipment, any required specialized education and the oath. Specified health and psychology branches have recognized specialist-exam alternatives; those exceptions are not universal. The Ministry states that registration conditions are not all checked before applying for or sitting the examination.

What language is the official examination conducted in?

Section 5(5) of Decree No. 228/2018 Z. z. requires the expert examination to be conducted in the state language, Slovak. This bank uses English explanations with exact Slovak terms; it does not claim an official English sitting or translation.

Does this bank cover specific technical disciplines like medicine or construction?

The bank studies selected shared statutory duties, report procedures and professional decisions. It does not teach or certify technical competence in every discipline. Prepare separately for the specific branch's case study, methods and oral questions. No official percentage topic blueprint was verified; the displayed practice counts are an editorial allocation.
