The Saskatchewan Class 7 Knowledge Test is SGI's written entry exam for the Class 7 Learner stage of Graduated Driver Licensing. It is multiple choice in two parts - rules of the road/driving situations and sign identification - based on the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook, with an 80% pass mark on each part. The fee is $25 per attempt, you may write only once per day, and passing results stay valid for one year. You must be 16 (or 15 in a high-school driver education program) and also pass a vision test to be issued the Learner's licence. This 100-question bank gives original Saskatchewan-specific practice across signs, rules of the road, right-of-way, sharing the road and the GDL restrictions.

1In Saskatchewan, what does a red, eight-sided (octagonal) sign with white letters require you to do?
A.Slow down and proceed if clear
B.Come to a complete stop
C.Yield to traffic from the left only
D.Merge with other traffic
Explanation: An octagonal red sign is always a STOP sign. You must come to a complete stop at the stop line, crosswalk or before entering the intersection, then proceed only when it is safe.
2A downward-pointing triangular sign with a white centre and red border means:
A.Stop
B.Yield the right-of-way
C.No entry
D.Road narrows
Explanation: A downward-pointing red and white triangle is a YIELD sign. You must slow down, be prepared to stop and give the right-of-way to traffic and pedestrians already in or approaching the intersection.
3What is the general meaning of a diamond-shaped yellow sign in Saskatchewan?
A.A regulation you must obey
B.A warning of a hazard or change ahead
C.A construction work zone
D.Tourist information
Explanation: Yellow diamond-shaped signs are warning signs. They alert you to a hazard or a change in road conditions ahead, such as a curve, intersection or merging traffic, so you can adjust your driving.
4In a Saskatchewan work zone, road signs are usually what colour?
A.Green
B.Orange
C.Blue
D.Brown
Explanation: Orange signs mark construction and maintenance work zones. They warn of changed conditions, workers and equipment, and fines for speeding in a work zone occupied by a worker are increased.
5A solid white line painted along the road between lanes travelling in the same direction means:
A.You may change lanes freely
B.You should stay in your lane and changing is discouraged
C.Traffic ahead travels in the opposite direction
D.The road is about to end
Explanation: A solid white line separates lanes of traffic moving in the same direction and indicates you should stay in your lane; crossing it is discouraged. A broken white line means you may change lanes when safe.
6A solid yellow line on your side of the centre of a two-way road means:
A.You may pass when the way is clear
B.You must not cross to pass
C.The road is one-way
D.There is a bike lane to your left
Explanation: A solid yellow centre line on your side means passing is not permitted there. A broken yellow line on your side means you may pass when it is safe and the road ahead is clear.
7A round sign showing a red circle with a red diagonal slash over a symbol means:
A.The action shown is permitted
B.The action shown is prohibited
C.Caution about the action shown
D.The action shown is recommended
Explanation: A red circle with a diagonal slash over a symbol is a prohibitory sign meaning the action shown is not allowed, such as no left turn or no U-turn.
8A flashing red traffic light means:
A.Slow down and proceed with caution
B.Stop, then proceed when safe as at a stop sign
C.The light is broken, ignore it
D.Speed up to clear the intersection
Explanation: A flashing red light has the same meaning as a stop sign. You must come to a complete stop, yield to other traffic and pedestrians, and proceed only when it is safe.
9A flashing yellow (amber) traffic light means:
A.Stop completely before entering
B.Slow down and proceed with caution
C.Prepare to stop for a red light
D.Right-of-way to cross traffic
Explanation: A flashing yellow light means slow down and proceed with caution through the intersection. You do not have to stop, but you must watch carefully for cross traffic and pedestrians.
10When a traffic light turns from green to steady yellow, you should:
A.Speed up to beat the red
B.Stop if you can do so safely
C.Always slam on the brakes
D.Treat it the same as a green light
Explanation: A steady yellow light warns that the light is about to turn red. You should stop if you can do so safely; only continue through if stopping would be dangerous because you are too close to the intersection.
