About the NS Class 7 Knowledge Test Exam
The Nova Scotia Class 7 Knowledge Test is the written test you must pass to get a Class 7 Learner's (Beginner's) Licence, the first stage of the province's Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) system. It is based on the Nova Scotia Driver's Handbook and has two multiple-choice parts: a Rules of the Road test covering traffic laws and safe driving, and a Road Sign Recognition test covering highway signs. Each part has 20 questions and you must answer at least 16 correctly (80%) to pass; if you fail one part you retake the entire test. Rules of the Road
Part of the Rules of the Road test (20 questions, 16 to pass): right-of-way at intersections and yields, speed limits in km/h (50 km/h urban, 80 km/h rural default, 30 km/h school zones when children are present), passing and lane use, turns, signalling, parking and stopping, and sharing the road with pedestrians, cyclists, large vehicles, school buses and emergency vehicles.
