1A boat's speed in still water is 24 km/h and the current is 4 km/h. Assuming constant speeds, how far does it travel downstream in 1 hour 30 minutes?
A.36 km
B.30 km
C.42 km
D.45 km
Explanation: Downstream speed is 24 + 4 = 28 km/h. Convert 1 hour 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, then calculate 28 × 1.5 = 42 km.
2A supply of 3/4 litre of ink is divided into portions of 1/8 litre each. How many complete portions can be made?
A.3/32
B.4
C.8
D.6
Explanation: The number of portions is (3/4) ÷ (1/8) = (3/4) × 8 = 6. Dividing by a fraction means multiplying by its reciprocal.
3A radio normally operates for 16 hours. If intensive use reduces that operating time by 25%, how long does it operate?
A.12 hours
B.4 hours
C.13 hours
D.20 hours
Explanation: A 25% reduction leaves 75% of the original time. Thus 16 × 0.75 = 12 hours; the reduction itself is four hours.
4In a simplified plan, eight antennas each cover an equal area without overlap, covering 360 km² in total. At the same coverage per antenna, how many cover 540 km²?
A.10
B.12
C.14
D.16
Explanation: Each antenna covers 360 ÷ 8 = 45 km² under the stated assumptions. Therefore 540 ÷ 45 = 12 antennas are required.
5For a hypothetical purchase, five uniform sets cost Gs. 180,000 each and three pairs of boots cost Gs. 220,000 each. What is the total?
A.Gs. 1,480,000
B.Gs. 1,620,000
C.Gs. 1,560,000
D.Gs. 400,000
Explanation: The uniforms cost 5 × 180,000 = Gs. 900,000 and the boots cost 3 × 220,000 = Gs. 660,000. Their combined cost is Gs. 1,560,000.
6Solve 4(x + 5) − 2(3x − 1) = 14.
A.3
B.5
C.−4
D.4
Explanation: Expansion gives 4x + 20 − 6x + 2 = 14, hence −2x + 22 = 14. Therefore −2x = −8 and x = 4.
7Four flashlights and three first-aid kits cost Gs. 290,000. Two identical flashlights and five identical kits cost Gs. 320,000. What is the price of one kit?
A.Gs. 50,000
B.Gs. 35,000
C.Gs. 45,000
D.Gs. 60,000
Explanation: Writing prices as f and k gives 4f + 3k = 290,000 and 2f + 5k = 320,000. Double the second equation and subtract the first to obtain 7k = 350,000, so k = Gs. 50,000.
8A stockkeeper fills identical boxes. Each box contains one more item than the number of boxes, and there are 20 items in total. How many boxes are filled?
A.5
B.4
C.−5
D.20
Explanation: If there are n boxes, each contains n + 1 items, so n(n + 1) = 20. Factoring n² + n − 20 gives (n − 4)(n + 5) = 0; the positive solution is four boxes.
9Two signals sound together at 09:00. One repeats every 18 minutes and the other every 24 minutes. At what time will they next sound together?
A.09:42
B.09:48
C.10:12
D.11:24
Explanation: The next joint signal occurs after the least common multiple of 18 and 24. Since 18 = 2 × 3² and 24 = 2³ × 3, the LCM is 72 minutes, giving 10:12.
10What is the quotient when x³ − 2x² − 5x + 6 is divided by x − 1?
A.x² − 2x − 5
B.x² + x − 6
C.x² − x + 6
D.x² − x − 6
Explanation: Synthetic division using one produces coefficients 1, −1 and −6 with remainder zero. Multiplying (x − 1)(x² − x − 6) recovers the original polynomial.

Police Sub-Officer College Admission (COLEPOL): Suggested Study Strategy

1Study the current admission programme rather than substituting the later police-training curriculum.
2Read the specified Constitution and child-law provisions directly, paying attention to exceptions and the scope of each article.
3Practise multi-step arithmetic and algebra, including fraction division, least common multiples, polynomial division and domain restrictions.
4Connect historical events with timelines and use departmental maps to learn capitals, boundaries and rivers.
5Use Spanish and Guaraní directly for comprehension, writing and conversation; English MCQ recognition cannot replace those skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an official COLEPOL examination or translation?

No. This is independent English-language practice with four options per question. The official academic assessment uses Spanish and Guaraní and five options; mandatory screening requires separate preparation.

How are the academic subjects assessed?

The current regulation specifies one 150-minute evaluation containing 80 questions, 20 per subject. Each candidate takes all four subjects on their assigned group day rather than attending four separate subject papers.

Which current admission cycle is documented?

As verified on 9 October 2026, the published 2027 intake calendar schedules academic groups during 26–30 October 2026. Check the official portal for your assignment and any amendments.

Does 60% guarantee admission?

No. It is the minimum total academic score. Ranking against available places and the separate health, physical and psychotechnical evaluations also determine progression and admission.

What are the current age and education requirements?

Applicants must have completed secondary education, be at least 18 at registration and be no older than 26 by 31 December of the call year. The current decree also sets nationality, background, documentation and suitability requirements.

What qualification follows admission and study?

The institution describes a two-year Técnico Superior en Prevención y Seguridad programme, with theoretical/practical education and professional placement, leading to Suboficial Ayudante P.S. Admission practice is only preparation for the entrance topics.

What is the current application fee?

The current official amount was not verified. Check the annual cartilla and admission portal for all applicable charges rather than treating a previous intake's partial fee as the total.
