A.A private non-profit association of architects governed by the Civil Code
B.A department of the ministry responsible for spatial planning, without legal personality of its own
C.A public association and legal person under public law, with administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy
D.A trade union that represents salaried architects in collective bargaining
Explanation: Article 1 defines the Ordem as the public association representing everyone who practises as an architect. It is a legal person governed by public law (pessoa coletiva de direito público), subject to a public-law regime when performing public tasks, with legal personality and administrative, financial and patrimonial autonomy. The Government only exercises administrative oversight of legality (tutela), through the member responsible for spatial planning (Article 94).
2Which national body of the Ordem dos Arquitectos is made up of all membros efetivos whose registration is in force and who are in full exercise of their rights?
A.Assembleia geral
B.Assembleia de delegados
C.Conselho diretivo nacional
D.Congresso
Explanation: Under Article 16 of the Estatuto, the assembleia geral consists of all membros efetivos with registration in force and in full exercise of their rights. It meets ordinarily to elect its board (mesa) and the national bodies, and it elects and removes national office-holders except the provedor dos destinatários dos serviços (Article 17).
3Which body of the Ordem dos Arquitectos grants the professional title of arquiteto and directs the Ordem's national services?
A.Conselho fiscal nacional
B.Conselho de disciplina nacional
C.Provedor dos destinatários dos serviços
D.Conselho diretivo nacional
Explanation: Article 21 of the Estatuto gives the conselho diretivo nacional (CDN) powers that include directing the Ordem's national services, granting the professional title of arquiteto, recognising qualifications obtained abroad and executing the disciplinary decisions of the conselho de disciplina nacional. The CDN president represents the Ordem in and out of court (Article 20(3)).
4Under Articles 4 and 9 of the Estatuto, how are the members of the Ordem dos Arquitectos categorised?
A.Membros efetivos, membros suplentes and membros vitalícios
B.Membros efetivos and membros extraordinários, the latter covering honorary, corresponding and intern members
C.Membros estagiários, membros associados and membros seniores
D.Membros nacionais and membros estrangeiros, each voting in a separate college
Explanation: Article 4 states that the Ordem has membros efetivos and membros extraordinários. Article 9 divides the extraordinary category into honorary members, corresponding members (which include architecture students) and membros estagiários, who hold that status during the internship. Only individual membros efetivos in full exercise of their rights may vote (Article 14(2)).
5How many regional sections (secções regionais) does the current Estatuto establish for the Ordem dos Arquitectos?
A.Two: Norte and Sul
B.Seven: Norte, Centro, Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, Alentejo, Algarve, Madeira and Açores

D.Eighteen, one for each mainland district
Explanation: Article 2(3) lists seven regional sections: Norte, Centro, Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, Alentejo, Algarve, Madeira and Açores. They follow the five mainland NUTS II units plus the two autonomous regions (Article 2(4)). Each section has a regional assembly, a conselho diretivo regional and a conselho de disciplina regional (Article 11(3)).
6What is the composition of the conselho de supervisão added to the Estatuto by Lei n.º 12/2024?
A.15 voting members: 6 registered architects, 6 non-member academics and 3 co-opted non-members of merit

C.Seven voting members appointed by the Government member responsible for spatial planning, after hearing the Ordem
D.The presidents of the seven conselhos diretivos regionais plus the president of the conselho diretivo nacional
Explanation: Article 25-A sets 15 voting members: six architects registered with the Ordem; six members from the higher-education institutions that give academic access to the profession who are not members; and three non-member personalities of recognised merit, co-opted by absolute majority. The president is elected from among the non-registered members, and the provedor dos destinatários dos serviços sits ex officio without a vote.
7Who may serve as provedor dos destinatários dos serviços of the Ordem dos Arquitectos, and what is the role?
A.A senior architect elected by the assembleia geral to advise and defend members who face disciplinary proceedings
B.An independent non-member who analyses complaints from service recipients and issues recommendations
C.A judge appointed by the Ministry of Justice to hear appeals against disciplinary sanctions
D.The president of the conselho fiscal, acting as consumer ombudsman ex officio
Explanation: Under Article 32 of the Estatuto, the provedor defends the interests of the recipients of the professional services provided by the Ordem's members. The provedor is an independent personality, not registered with the Ordem, designated by the CDN president on a proposal from the conselho de supervisão. The provedor analyses complaints, issues recommendations, may report possible disciplinary infractions and may challenge the legality of the Ordem's acts and regulations.

B.Assembleia regional
C.Conselho de supervisão
D.Conselho fiscal nacional
Explanation: Articles 24 and 25 of the Estatuto provide that the conselho fiscal nacional (a president and two vogais elected by the assembleia geral, plus a revisor oficial de contas) examines financial management at least quarterly. It gives opinions on the report and accounts, on the activity plans and budgets presented by the CDN, and on the use of funds and sale of real estate. The budget itself is approved by the assembleia de delegados (Article 42(5)).
9Under Article 12 of the Estatuto, how long are mandates for the bodies of the Ordem dos Arquitectos?
A.Three years, renewable only once
B.Four years, renewable without limit
C.Two years, renewable twice
D.Five years, not renewable
Explanation: Article 12(1) fixes mandates for the Ordem's bodies at three years, renewable only once, and Article 12(3) prohibits holding more than one office at a time. The three-year cycle also appears elsewhere in the Estatuto, for example in the congress, which meets every three years (Article 15).
10Besides 12 months of supervised professional experience, which training must an Ordem dos Arquitectos intern complete?
A.A 40-hour refresher course chosen by the host entity
B.The 8-hour Estatuto e Deontologia course plus at least 21 hours of training in areas 581 and 582
C.A 90-minute written exam on the Estatuto, with a 50% pass mark
D.100 hours of continuing professional development in any subject

The 21 hours must include courses in both education-and-training areas 581 (Arquitetura e Urbanismo) and 582 (Construção Civil e Engenharia Civil), and the 8 deontology hours do not count towards them. The intern must pass (obter aproveitamento) every course (RIE Annex I, Articles 3 and 4).

About the OA Estágio Profissional Exam

The Estágio Profissional is the Ordem dos Arquitectos' statutory route for holders of a recognised architecture degree to register as membros efetivos and practise as architects in Portugal. Governed by the Estatuto da Ordem dos Arquitetos (as amended by Lei n.º 12/2024) and the Regulamento de Inscrição e Estágio (Regulamento n.º 350/2016), it combines 12 months of supervised professional experience, the Estatuto e Deontologia course and professional training, and ends with a Caderno de Candidatura validated by the Ordem. This independent English-language MCQ practice by OpenExamPrep covers the statute, internship rules, practice law, the 2026 deontology regulation and the disciplinary regime; it is a study adaptation, not an official exam or translation.

OA Estágio Profissional: Suggested Study Strategy

1Read the consolidated Estatuto with the Lei n.º 12/2024 changes, especially Article 8 (internship), Articles 44–58 (practice and deontology) and Articles 59–87 (discipline)
2Study Regulamento n.º 786/2026, which replaced the 2016 deontology regulation in June 2026, so older summaries may cite outdated article numbers
3Learn the internship numbers precisely: 12 months, 4-month minimum periods, 24-month limit, five-year orientador registration, three interns per orientador, 8 + 21 training hours
4Know the disciplinary sanctions in Article 70 in order, from advertência to suspension of two to ten years, and which ones are communicated or publicised
5Practise colleague-substitution and copyright scenarios using Estatuto Article 57(b), Regulamento n.º 786/2026 Article 8 and CDADC Articles 14, 56 and 60

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Estágio Profissional of the Ordem dos Arquitectos?

It is the professional internship required to register with the Ordem dos Arquitectos as a membro efetivo, which is needed to practise as an architect in Portugal. Under Article 8 of the Estatuto (as amended by Lei n.º 12/2024) and the Regulamento de Inscrição e Estágio (Regulamento n.º 350/2016), it lasts 12 months and combines supervised professional experience with the Estatuto e Deontologia course and professional training.

Is there a written exam at the end of the internship?

No written examination or numeric pass mark is published for the current internship. Interns must pass (obter aproveitamento) the Estatuto e Deontologia course and the professional training, then submit a Caderno de Candidatura with the orientador's opinion, host-entity declarations and an activities record, which the conselho diretivo regional validates within 30 days.

Who can be an orientador, and what must the host entity provide?

The orientador must be a membro efetivo registered for at least five years and in full exercise of their rights, supervising no more than three interns at a time. The host entity must host the intern for at least four months, provide relevant activities and means, and take out personal-accident insurance for the intern. Where the internship involves work, pay must be at least the minimum monthly wage plus 25% (Estatuto Article 8(14)).

How much does the internship route cost in 2026?

The OA 2026 fee table charges €50 to appraise the application and €150 for the internship candidacy (€200 in total, with the Estatuto e Deontologia course included), and €95 for registration as membro efetivo after the internship. Professional-training courses are paid per course. Interns in proven economic hardship may ask the conselho de supervisão for exemption or deferral.

Which rules should I study?

Focus on the Estatuto da Ordem dos Arquitetos, the internship regulation, Lei n.º 31/2009 on project and site responsibilities, the Regulamento de Deontologia e Procedimento Disciplinar (Regulamento n.º 786/2026, in force since June 2026) and the Regulamento de Atos da Profissão de Arquiteto (Regulamento n.º 580/2026). Copyright rules for architectural works in the CDADC are also central to deontology.

Is this practice bank an official exam simulation?

No. The Estágio Profissional is a supervised internship conducted in Portuguese, not a multiple-choice test. This is independent English-language MCQ practice by OpenExamPrep to help you study the statute, internship rules, practice law, deontology and disciplinary regime; it is not an official translation or a simulation of any OA assessment.
