RVCC-For is the IEFP route that certifies experienced trainers' pedagogical competences for the CCP: a portfolio, a technical interview and an observed simulated session before a two-evaluator jury, measured against the nine-module FPIF referencial. Candidates need a degree and at least 300 hours as a trainer; the CCP costs €50. These questions are an independent English-language MCQ study aid, not an official-format simulation.

1Article 3 of Portaria n.º 214/2011 sets out the routes to the Certificado de Competências Pedagógicas (CCP). Which option lists them?
A.An IEFP-authorised FPIF course, an RVCC-For process, or IEFP recognition of a degree with equivalent pedagogical content
B.An FPIF course, a national written CCP examination set by the IEFP each year, or at least five years of documented work as a trainer
C.An FPIF course, DGERT certification of the employing training entity, or completion of an RVCC Profissional process
D.An FPIF course, an RVCC-For process, or three consecutive years of registration in the Bolsa Nacional de Formadores (BNF)
Explanation: Article 3(2) of Portaria n.º 214/2011 lists three routes: (a) completing an initial pedagogical training course for trainers (FPIF), (b) recognition, validation and certification of pedagogical competences acquired through experience (RVCC-For), and (c) recognition of higher-education diplomas or certificates that confer the pedagogical competences of the reference profile, by a reasoned IEFP decision. The IEFP trainer-certification Regulamento repeats the same three routes.
2The IEFP Netforce portal describes the RVCC-For process as three stages. In what order do they occur?
A.Validação, Reconhecimento, Certificação
B.Reconhecimento, Certificação, Validação
C.Reconhecimento, Validação, Certificação
D.Diagnóstico, Formação, Certificação
Explanation: Netforce states that RVCC-For develops in three stages, Reconhecimento, Validação and Certificação de Competências, through individual and/or small-group sessions held face-to-face or at a distance and supported by the Avaliador RVCC-For. In the final phase a jury certifies the competences held and identifies any that are missing.
3Who assesses an RVCC-For candidate in the final phase of the process?
A.A three-member panel of IEFP regional delegates chaired by the director of the employment and training centre
B.Two evaluators, the Avaliador RVCC-For and an external evaluator, at least one of them a certified trainer
C.The CNQF alone, which reviews the portfolio and a recorded session without meeting the candidate in person
D.A DGERT auditor together with a representative of the training entity where the candidate works as a trainer
Explanation: Netforce states that the final-phase jury is made up of the Avaliador de RVCC-For and an Avaliador Externo, who certify the competences held and indicate any additional training needed. Article 7(2)(c) of Portaria n.º 214/2011 requires a jury of two evaluators, one of whom must be a certified trainer.
4Under section 6.1 of the IEFP trainer-certification Regulamento (1st revision, 2024), which candidate fits the standard RVCC-For profile?
A.A trainer whose CCP was issued more than ten years ago and who must now renew it before a jury
B.A person with a 9th-grade certificate and 150 hours of experience tutoring trainees in the workplace
C.A graduate in education sciences who wants the degree's pedagogical subjects recognised as equivalent to the FPIF
D.A graduate without a CCP who can prove at least 300 hours of activity as a trainer, paid or voluntary
Explanation: The Regulamento targets candidates who do not hold a CCP, have a higher-education qualification and either have at least 300 hours of proven activity as a trainer (in a professional or extra-professional context such as volunteering) or completed an FPIF course under a superseded referencial without ever requesting certification. For operative technical components, a 12th-grade qualification plus five years of professional experience can replace the degree.
5What procedural charge does the IEFP trainer-certification Regulamento set for obtaining the CCP, whichever access route is used?
A.€25, the same charge as an exceptional authorisation to work as a trainer
B.€50, paid through the Netforce portal before the CCP is issued
C.€250, the same charge as an authorisation to run an FPIF course
D.No charge, because RVCC-For runs at public IEFP centres
Explanation: Section 8 of the Regulamento sets the procedural charges: €50 for obtaining the CCP through FPIF, RVCC-For or recognition of qualifications, €250 for authorising an external entity's FPIF course, and €25 for an exceptional authorisation to work as a trainer. Payment is processed through Netforce, and the Netforce FAQ also cites €50.
6In an RVCC-For process, the candidate's portfolio of competences is measured against what?
A.The occupational referencial in the Catálogo Nacional de Qualificações for the candidate's technical area
B.The DGERT quality standard that certified training entities must meet
C.The trainer's base competence profile and the pedagogical training referenciais in force
D.The candidate's own self-assessment grid, which the jury accepts without further comparison
Explanation: Article 7(1) of Portaria n.º 214/2011 states that the candidate's portfolio is compared with the trainer's base competence profile and the training referenciais in force. The IEFP Regulamento names the trainer competence referencial set out in the RVCC-For operational guide and the Referencial de Formação Pedagógica Inicial de Formadores (the 90-hour FPIF referencial).
7Portaria n.º 214/2011 requires an RVCC-For candidate to be placed in a 'situação de demonstração'. What does this involve?
A.Simulating a professional performance, such as a training session, observed directly by the evaluators
B.Sitting a written test on the content of the nine FPIF modules under exam conditions
C.Submitting video recordings of past courses, which the evaluators review instead of a live performance
D.Answering a series of jury questions on Portuguese vocational-training legislation
Explanation: Article 7(2)(b) of Portaria n.º 214/2011 states that the candidate is put in a situation of demonstrating the competences by simulating a professional performance that the evaluators can observe directly. The IEFP Regulamento lists this as the Demonstração das competências phase, alongside the portfolio and the technical interview.
8An RVCC-For jury finds that a candidate shows most trainer competences but not those covered by the assessment module (MF8). What follows?
A.The CCP is issued at once, with a restriction that bars the trainer from assessing trainees
B.The candidate must restart and complete the full 90-hour FPIF course from the beginning
C.The candidate may reapply only after accumulating another 300 hours of activity as a trainer
D.The jury indicates the training needed; the candidate completes the matching FPIF module(s)
Explanation: Netforce states that the jury certifies the competences held and identifies any missing ones, indicating the additional training to attend in order to obtain the CCP. Article 5(3) of Portaria n.º 214/2011 lets the duration of modular training that responds to RVCC needs vary with the candidate's positioning, so only the uncertified competences need to be completed.
9Once IEFP vocational-training services have assessed an RVCC-For process, which body analyses it and proposes final approval of the CCP?
A.DGERT, which certifies the training entity responsible for the process
B.The Centro Qualifica where the candidate was originally enrolled
C.The IEFP's Centro Nacional de Qualificação de Formadores (CNQF)
D.The external evaluator, who signs the certificate on behalf of the jury
Explanation: Section 6.2 of the Regulamento states that RVCC-For processes are assessed by IEFP vocational-training services and then analysed by the CNQF, which issues an opinion proposing final approval by the IEFP's Departamento de Formação Profissional. The CCP is issued on Netforce at the same time as that approval.
10How long does a Certificado de Competências Pedagógicas (CCP) remain valid?
A.Indefinitely, because the CCP has no validity limit
B.Five years, renewable after continuous training
C.Ten years, after which a new jury is required
D.As long as the holder remains in the BNF register
Explanation: The IEFP Regulamento states that CCPs are mandatory for trainers working in the SNQ and have no validity limit under current legislation. Continuous pedagogical training is encouraged to keep competences up to date, but it is not a renewal condition.

About the RVCC-For Exam

RVCC-For (Reconhecimento, Validação e Certificação de Competências Pedagógicas) is one of the three routes to Portugal's Certificado de Competências Pedagógicas (CCP), which trainers need to work in the Sistema Nacional de Qualificações under Portaria n.º 214/2011. Launched by the IEFP in 2019, it is intended for people without a CCP who hold a higher-education qualification and can prove at least 300 hours of activity as a trainer. Through individual or small-group sessions with an Avaliador RVCC-For, candidates build a portfolio that is measured against the trainer competence referencial and the 90-hour Formação Pedagógica Inicial de Formadores (FPIF) referencial, take part in a technical interview and demonstrate their competences in a simulated session observed by a two-evaluator jury. The jury certifies the competences held and indicates FPIF training for any that are missing; obtaining the CCP carries a €50 procedural charge. The official process is conducted in Portuguese and has no written test. This page offers independent RVCC-For practice by OpenExamPrep: an English-language multiple-choice study adaptation covering the process rules and the nine FPIF modules. It is not an official translation and does not replace the portfolio, the interview or the observed demonstration.

Assessment

Netforce describes three stages, Reconhecimento, Validação and Certificação, run in individual and/or small-group sessions (face-to-face or at a distance) with an Avaliador RVCC-For. The IEFP Regulamento structures the assessment as portfolio presentation, technical interview and demonstration of competences (Portaria n.º 214/2011, art. 7). The final jury, made up of the Avaliador RVCC-For and an external evaluator (one of the two must be a certified trainer), certifies the competences held and indicates training for any that are missing. The CNQF then analyses the process and the CCP is issued on Netforce.

Time Limit

No fixed duration published; varies by candidate and process

Passing Score

No numeric pass mark: the jury certifies the competences demonstrated against the trainer and FPIF referenciais and indicates additional training for any missing competences before the CCP can be issued.

Exam / Certification Fees

€50 procedural charge for obtaining the CCP, paid through Netforce (IEFP Regulamento, 1st revision, section 8)

RVCC-For: Suggested Study Strategy

1Learn the three routes to the CCP in article 3 of Portaria n.º 214/2011 and the RVCC-For rules in section 6 of the IEFP Regulamento: eligibility, portfolio, technical interview, observed demonstration and the two-evaluator jury.
2Map your own training experience to the nine FPIF modules and collect concrete evidence (session plans, resources you built, assessment instruments, trainee results) for each one before building your portfolio.
3Practise writing operational objectives with Mager's three components (performance, conditions, criterion) and classify them by domain (saber, saber-fazer, saber-ser) and Bloom level.
4Know the four method families (expositive, interrogative, demonstrative, active) and when each fits an objective, including the four steps of the demonstrative method.
5Revise the technical qualities of assessment (validity, reliability, objectivity), the main rater biases (halo, central tendency, contrast) and Kirkpatrick's four levels of training evaluation.
6Prepare a short simulated session around one limited objective, with an introduction, active development and a conclusion that checks learning, and rehearse analysing your own performance afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is RVCC-For?

RVCC-For (Reconhecimento, Validação e Certificação de Competências Pedagógicas) is the IEFP process that recognises pedagogical competences acquired through formal, non-formal and informal experience. It is one of the three routes to the Certificado de Competências Pedagógicas (CCP) set out in article 3 of Portaria n.º 214/2011, alongside the 90-hour FPIF course and IEFP recognition of a higher-education diploma with equivalent pedagogical content.

Who can apply for RVCC-For?

Under section 6.1 of the IEFP Regulamento (1st revision, 2024), candidates must not hold a CCP, must have a higher-education qualification and must have at least 300 hours of proven activity as a trainer, or have completed an FPIF course under a superseded referencial without ever requesting certification. For operative technical components the 12th grade plus five years of professional experience is accepted, and exceptionally the 9th grade plus five years with prior CNQF authorisation. Applications are made on the Netforce portal.

How is an RVCC-For candidate assessed?

Netforce describes three stages, Reconhecimento, Validação and Certificação, supported by an Avaliador RVCC-For. Following article 7 of Portaria n.º 214/2011, the candidate presents a portfolio, takes part in a technical interview and demonstrates the competences by simulating a professional performance that the evaluators observe directly. A jury of the Avaliador RVCC-For and an external evaluator, at least one of whom is a certified trainer, certifies the competences held.

What happens if the jury finds missing competences?

The jury identifies the missing competences and indicates the additional training the candidate must complete to obtain the CCP. Portaria n.º 214/2011 lets the duration of this modular training vary with the candidate's positioning, so the candidate completes only what the jury did not certify rather than repeating the whole 90-hour course.

How much does it cost to obtain the CCP?

Section 8 of the IEFP Regulamento sets a €50 procedural charge for obtaining the CCP by any of the three routes, paid through Netforce. The same table lists €250 for authorising an external entity's FPIF course and €25 for an exceptional authorisation to work as a trainer. The CCP has no validity limit.

What are the nine FPIF modules that RVCC-For candidates are measured against?

The FPIF referencial has nine 10-hour modules: MF1 Formador: sistemas, contextos e perfil; MF2 Simulação pedagógica inicial; MF3 Comunicação e dinamização de grupos em formação; MF4 Metodologias e estratégias pedagógicas; MF5 Operacionalização da formação: do plano à ação; MF6 Recursos didáticos e multimédia; MF7 Plataformas colaborativas e de aprendizagem; MF8 Avaliação da formação e das aprendizagens; and MF9 Simulação pedagógica final.

How do these practice questions relate to the official RVCC-For assessment?

They are independent RVCC-For practice by OpenExamPrep. The official process is conducted in Portuguese through a portfolio, an interview and an observed simulation, with no written test. These English-language multiple-choice questions are a study adaptation of the process rules and FPIF content; they are not an official translation and do not replace the portfolio, the interview or the simulated session.
