1Which number continues the sequence 7, 12, 17, 22, 27, …?
A.31
B.32
C.33
D.37
Explanation: Each term is obtained by adding 5 to the previous one (7 → 12 → 17 → 22 → 27). The next term is therefore 27 + 5 = 32.
2Which number continues the sequence 3, 6, 12, 24, 48, …?
A.72
B.60
C.96
D.144
Explanation: Each term is double the previous one (3 × 2 = 6, 6 × 2 = 12, and so on). The next term is 48 × 2 = 96.
3Which number continues the sequence 5, 7, 11, 17, 25, 35, …?
A.45
B.49
C.46
D.47
Explanation: The differences between terms are 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10, so they increase by 2 each time. The next difference is 12, giving 35 + 12 = 47.
4Which number comes next in the sequence 2, 9, 4, 12, 8, 15, 16, …?
A.32
B.18
C.17
D.20
Explanation: Two sequences are interleaved. The odd positions (2, 4, 8, 16) double each time, and the even positions (9, 12, 15) increase by 3. The next term is in an even position, so it is 15 + 3 = 18.
5Which number continues the sequence 2, 3, 8, 27, 112, …?
A.565
B.452
C.560
D.570
Explanation: Each term is the previous term multiplied by n and then increased by n, with n = 1, 2, 3, 4, …: 2 × 1 + 1 = 3, 3 × 2 + 2 = 8, 8 × 3 + 3 = 27, 27 × 4 + 4 = 112. The next step is 112 × 5 + 5 = 565.
6In the sequence 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, x, 49, what is the value of x + 1?
A.36
B.35
C.37
D.38
Explanation: The terms are perfect squares: 1², 2², 3², 4², 5², 6², 7². So x = 6² = 36, and the question asks for x + 1 = 37.
7In each row, the same rule turns the first two numbers into the third: (6, 4 → 30), (5, 3 → 20) and (3, 5 → 18). Which number completes the row (7, 2 → ?)
A.42
B.16
C.14
D.21
Explanation: The rule is first number × (second number + 1): 6 × 5 = 30, 5 × 4 = 20 and 3 × 6 = 18. Applying it to the last row gives 7 × 3 = 21.
8The operation ⊕ is defined as a ⊕ b = 2a + b². What is the value of (1 ⊕ 2) ⊕ 1?
A.13
B.27
C.38
D.9
Explanation: Work from the parentheses outward. First 1 ⊕ 2 = 2(1) + 2² = 6. Then 6 ⊕ 1 = 2(6) + 1² = 13.
9A uniform that costs S/ 80 is sold with a 25% discount. What is the sale price?
A.S/ 55
B.S/ 64
C.S/ 20
D.S/ 60
Explanation: 25% of S/ 80 is 0.25 × 80 = S/ 20. The sale price is S/ 80 − S/ 20 = S/ 60 (equivalently, 75% of 80).
10A price increases by 20% and then the new price decreases by 20%. What is the overall effect on the original price?
A.A 4% decrease
B.No change
C.A 4% increase
D.A 2% decrease
Explanation: Successive percentage changes multiply: 1.20 × 0.80 = 0.96. The final price is 96% of the original, which is a 4% decrease.

About the INPE CENECP Seguridad Penitenciaria Admisión Exam

The admission process to CENECP's Curso en Seguridad Penitenciaria is how INPE selects civilians to train as penitentiary security agents. The latest completed process (2023) offered 500 places and began with an 80-item knowledge evaluation covering logical-mathematical reasoning, Spanish verbal reasoning, general culture and penitentiary law, followed by physical, psychological, medical and interview stages. INPE had not published lineamientos for a new cycle as of October 2026, although it announced in April 2026 a call to bring in 500 new penitentiary agents and support staff. This page offers independent practice by OpenExamPrep on the same four areas. It is an English-language multiple-choice study adaptation, not an official translation or a simulation of the Spanish-language exam, and it cannot replace preparation for the physical test or the interview.

INPE CENECP Seguridad Penitenciaria Admisión: Suggested Study Strategy

1Split your study time evenly: each of the four areas was worth 20 of the 80 items in the 2023 evaluation.
2For sequences and numeric distributions, write the differences or ratios between terms before choosing an answer.
3Build Spanish vocabulary lists of synonyms and antonyms and check meanings in the RAE dictionary (DLE).
4Learn the core of the Código de Ejecución Penal: the objective of execution, regimes and stages, inmate discipline and penitentiary benefits.
5Check that your study materials reflect the 2023–2026 amendments, such as 1x1 redemption in mínima and mediana seguridad and the Extrema Seguridad stage.
6Prepare separately for the physical-effort test and the interview, which multiple-choice practice cannot cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CENECP admission process?

It is INPE's competitive selection for the Curso en Seguridad Penitenciaria taught at CENECP in Callao. The course is the training INPE requires for its penitentiary security agents; graduates become eligible to apply to INPE's staff convocatorias. The 2023 process offered 500 places (410 for men and 90 for women).

What does the knowledge evaluation cover?

In the 2023 lineamiento it had 80 multiple-choice items, 20 each on razonamiento lógico-matemático, razonamiento verbal, cultura general and normatividad penitenciaria. Each correct answer was worth 0.25 points on a 0–20 scale, and candidates needed at least 11 to continue.

Is there an admission process open in 2026?

The latest process with published lineamientos was the 2023 cycle, and the CENECP admission page still links to it. In April 2026 INPE announced a call to bring in 500 new penitentiary agents and support staff, but as of October 2026 no new lineamiento for the course had been published. Check the gob.pe and CENECP admission pages for the next call.

How much does it cost to apply?

The 2023 registration fee was S/ 140.00, paid to INPE's Banco de la Nación account or through Págalo.pe. Admitted candidates paid S/ 1,200.00 in gastos de instalación for the course.

Who can apply?

Peruvians by birth aged 20 to 26 at registration, with completed secondary education, a minimum height of 1.68 m (men) or 1.58 m (women), good physical and mental health, no criminal, judicial or police record, and no REDAM listing. Women must not be pregnant during the process.

Is the official exam in English?

No. The official evaluation is a paper-based exam in Spanish. This page is an independent English-language multiple-choice study adaptation by OpenExamPrep, not an official translation; the verbal-reasoning items keep the Spanish words being tested and explain them in English.

Is the 2023 balotario still accurate on penitentiary law?

Not entirely. Since it was published, D.L. 1585 (November 2023) changed redemption in mínima and mediana seguridad to one day of sentence per day of work or study, and D.L. 1737 (February 2026) added an "Extrema Seguridad" stage to the Régimen Cerrado Especial.
