A.A qualifying adjective (adjectif qualificatif)
B.An adverb of time (adverbe de temps)
C.A coordinating conjunction (conjonction de coordination)
D.A common noun (nom commun)

2Which sentence shows correct subject–verb agreement in the present tense?
A.Les éleveurs de Diffa mènentent leurs troupeaux vers le pâturage.
B.Les éleveurs de Diffa mène leurs troupeaux vers le pâturage.
C.Les éleveurs de Diffa mènes leurs troupeaux vers le pâturage.
D.Les éleveurs de Diffa mènent leurs troupeaux vers le pâturage.
Explanation: The subject « Les éleveurs de Diffa » is a plural noun group (= « ils »). In the present tense, « mener » takes the ending « -ent »: « mènent ».
3What is the plural of the noun « un cheval »?
A.Des chevaux
B.Des chevaulx
C.Des chevals
D.Des chevalles
Explanation: Most masculine nouns ending in « -al » form their plural in « -aux », so « un cheval » becomes « des chevaux ».
4Among these nouns ending in « -ou », which one takes an « x » in the plural?
A.Un trou
B.Un bijou
C.Un clou
D.Un fou
Explanation: Nouns ending in « -ou » normally take « s » in the plural, except seven well-known words that take « x »: bijou, caillou, chou, genou, hibou, joujou, pou. So « bijou » becomes « bijoux ».
5What is the feminine form of the adjective « premier »?
A.Premiere

6What is the correct present-tense form of « bâtir » (2nd group) with « nous »?
A.Nous bâtons
B.Nous bâtissiez

A.Les paysans cultivèrent le mil chaque saison.

C.Les paysans cultivaient le mil avec ardeur.

A.Nous allions
B.Nous irons
C.Nous allâmes
D.Nous allons
Explanation: The irregular verb « aller » uses the stem « ir- » in the future. With « nous » the ending is « -ons »: « nous irons ».
9In « Fatouma et Amina sont ______ à l'école de Maradi », what is the correct form of the past participle of « partir »?
A.parties
B.partis
C.partie
D.parti
Explanation: With the auxiliary « être », the past participle agrees in gender and number with the subject. « Fatouma et Amina » is feminine plural, so the participle takes « -es »: « parties ».
10In « Voici les mangues que Moussa a ______ sur le manguier », what is the correct spelling of the past participle of « cueillir »?
A.cueilli
B.cueillis
C.cueillie
D.cueillies

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the CFEPD a multiple-choice exam?

No. The CFEPD is a written examination in French that opens with the rédaction. This bank is an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation for revising knowledge; French items keep their French examples because the French language is what is being tested.

Does this bank cover the CEPE/FA?

No. Pupils in Franco-Arabic schools sit the Certificat d'Études Primaires Élémentaires Franco-Arabe (CEPE/FA), a separately named examination organized in the same session (29,137 of the 352,211 candidates in 2026). This bank covers the French-medium CFEPD only.

When was the CFEPD reinstated?

A technical committee handed the Minister of National Education a report favouring the reinstatement of the CFEPD and the CEPE/FA on 3 January 2024, and the examination has been held each June since 2024.
