1In a French-style business letter, which zone gives the recipient's name or title and postal address, usually placed on the right below the sender's letterhead?
A.The en-tête
B.The vedette
C.The souscription
D.The références (Vos réf. / Nos réf.)
Explanation: The vedette is the recipient block: title, name, company and address of the addressee, placed on the right so that it shows through a window envelope. The en-tête identifies the sender, the références link the letter to earlier correspondence, and the souscription gives the signatory's position and name next to the signature.
2What is the purpose of the 'Objet' line placed before the salutation of a business letter?
A.To list the documents enclosed with the letter
B.To give the reference codes of both correspondents' files
C.To name the people who receive a copy of the letter
D.To state in a few words what the letter is about
Explanation: The Objet line announces the subject in a short noun phrase, for example 'Objet : Désaccord sur les conditions de règlement'. It lets the mail service route the letter and lets the reader grasp its purpose before reading the body.
3At the bottom left of a letter, the mention 'P.J. : copie de la facture n° 245' tells the reader that…
A.a copy of invoice no. 245 is enclosed with the letter
B.a copy of the letter has been sent to the accounts department
C.the letter cancels and replaces invoice no. 245
D.invoice no. 245 has already been paid in full
Explanation: 'P.J.' stands for pièces jointes (enclosures). It tells the recipient which documents travel with the letter, so they can check that nothing is missing.
4In the 2020 G1 case, COSMÉTIQUE ordered shea butter from Gourma SA, asking to pay at 90 days by bill of exchange domiciled at Bank Of Africa. The uncontested invoice of 1,200,000 FCFA says 'Règlement par chèque au 31 mars'. What must the letter of disagreement mainly do?
A.Dispute the invoiced amount of 1,200,000 FCFA and ask Gourma SA to issue a credit note for the difference
B.Announce that the shea butter will be sent back to Burkina Faso because the invoice terms differ from the order
C.Recall the payment terms set in the order, point out the conflicting invoice mention and ask Gourma SA to confirm the 90-day bill of exchange
D.Ask Bank Of Africa to stop the payment, since the bill of exchange was domiciled there and the supplier wants a cheque
Explanation: The paper states that the invoice itself is not contested; only the payment terms are. A sound letter refers to the order (date, product, payment clause) and the invoice (date, amount), explains the discrepancy, and courteously asks the supplier to confirm the agreed method: a bill of exchange at 90 days domiciled at Bank Of Africa.
5A bill of exchange (lettre de change) is 'domiciliée à la Bank Of Africa'. What does the domiciliation indicate?
A.The bank that guarantees payment if the debtor defaults
B.The bank where the bill will be presented and paid at maturity
C.The bank that has bought the bill before its due date
D.The bank that drew up the invoice for the supplier
Explanation: The domiciliation is the place of payment written on the bill, usually the bank that holds the drawee's account. On the due date the bill is presented there and the bank debits the debtor's account, which makes collection simpler and safer.
6Gourma SA, the creditor, draws a bill of exchange on COSMÉTIQUE for the 1,200,000 FCFA delivery. In this bill, who is the drawee (tiré)?
A.COSMÉTIQUE, the buyer who must pay at maturity
B.Gourma SA, the supplier who issues the bill
C.Bank Of Africa, where the bill is domiciled
D.The carrier who delivered the shea butter
Explanation: The drawer (tireur) is the creditor who creates the bill, here Gourma SA. The drawee (tiré) is the debtor ordered to pay at maturity, here COSMÉTIQUE. The domiciliation bank is only the place of payment.
7What mainly distinguishes a note de service from a note d'information inside an enterprise?
A.A note de service goes to outside partners, while a note d'information stays inside the firm
B.A note de service must be approved by staff delegates, while a note d'information needs no approval
C.A note de service reports on a past meeting, while a note d'information announces the next one
D.A note de service gives instructions staff must follow, while a note d'information only informs
Explanation: Both are internal documents. The note de service is a downward instrument of authority: it sets instructions, timetables or rules that staff must apply. The note d'information passes on facts or news without imposing new obligations.
8Which document records the deliberations and decisions of a formally constituted body, is signed by its officers and can be used as proof?
A.The compte rendu
B.The rapport
C.The procès-verbal
D.The note de synthèse
Explanation: The procès-verbal is the official record of a deliberative body such as a board or a general meeting. It states the attendance, the agenda, the deliberations and the result of each vote, and its signature by the officers gives it evidential value.
9The director of COSMÉTIQUE asks you for a document that studies the canteen and staff-bus projects, compares the options and proposes a solution. Which document is expected?
A.A rapport
B.A compte rendu
C.A procès-verbal
D.A convocation
Explanation: A rapport is an analytical document written for a decision-maker: it presents the facts, analyses causes and options, and ends with justified proposals. That matches a request to compare projects and recommend one.
10Which information must a convocation (meeting notice) contain so that participants can prepare?
A.The minutes of the meeting and the list of decisions taken
B.The date, time, place and the ordre du jour (agenda)
C.The attendance sheet signed by each participant
D.The final text of the resolutions that will be adopted
Explanation: A convocation is sent before the meeting. It names the meeting, gives the date, time and place, and lists the ordre du jour, so participants know what will be discussed and can bring the right documents.

Bac G1 Niger: Suggested Study Strategy

1Learn the zones of a business letter (en-tête, vedette, références, objet, formule d'appel, body, formule de politesse, souscription and signature) and the mentions P.J., Copie à, s/c, P.O. and P.I.
2Practise drawing structure charts from a case text: count the services in the line of command and attach secretaries and advisers as staff boxes.
3When designing a form or questionnaire, group the rubriques by theme, use neutral closed questions where answers must be counted, and add filter questions and a box reserved for the administration.
4Know when to use each filing order (alphabetical, numerical with an index, chronological, geographical, subject) and the three ages of archives.
5Revise the second-group subjects too: vices cachés and the contract of sale in Droit, and economic agents, GDP and sectors in Économie générale.
