Frequently Asked Questions
What is the NUST Mature Age Entry Examination?
It is the set of written entrance tests used by the Namibia University of Science and Technology under Regulation G12.2. Applicants aged 23 or older who do not meet the normal NSSCO/NSSCAS admission requirements are selected through the tests, their work experience, references and English proficiency. School leavers are admitted on their school results instead and do not write these tests.
What are the eligibility requirements for NUST Mature Age Entry?
Applicants must be at least 23 years old on or before 1 January of the academic year, hold at least a Junior Certificate or equivalent, normally have left full-time school or college at least three years earlier, and have at least three years' work experience. Some programmes do not admit Mature Age Entry candidates.
What tests do candidates write for NUST Mature Age Entry?
Candidates write two tests: English (Proficiency Test) and Mathematics (Basic Numeracy). NUST does not publish durations or mark totals for 2027. Past papers show 3 hours for the 2016 English Placement Test (grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and main-idea sections) and 2 hours for the 2016 and 2019 Numeracy tests (written answers on everyday arithmetic, N$ prices, VAT and discounts).
What is the passing score for NUST Mature Age Entry?
Candidates must achieve at least 40% in the English test and at least 40% in the Mathematics test. Certain programmes may enforce higher minimum cut-offs, and achieving the minimum score does not guarantee admission as places are quota-limited.
How much is the NUST Mature Age Entry application fee?
The application fee is N$240 for the 2027 intake, paid by bank deposit; the original deposit slip must accompany the form. Applications for 2027 closed on 11 September 2026, and test results are mailed by the end of November.
Are these official NUST examination questions?
No. This is independent practice by OpenExamPrep. The official tests are written papers set and answered in English, and the Numeracy test requires written calculations. These questions are an English-language MCQ study adaptation for revision, not a simulation of the official papers.
