1At a routine prenatal visit at 30 weeks, a woman's blood pressure is 142/92 mmHg after 5 minutes of rest. What should the nurse do?
A.Confirm it and refer her promptly for evaluation
B.Tell her to come back at her next scheduled visit in a month
C.Give her an antihypertensive from the clinic stock
D.Advise her to stop eating salt and not tell the physician
Explanation: A blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg or more after 20 weeks may indicate a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy such as preeclampsia. The nurse confirms the reading, asks about warning signs such as headache or visual disturbances, and refers the woman for prompt medical evaluation.
2Under NOM-007-SSA2-2016, how many postpartum consultations are provided, and when is the first one?
A.One, at 6 months
B.Two, the first within 15 days
C.Four, all in the first week
D.None if the delivery was normal
Explanation: The norm provides two postpartum consultations: the first within 15 days and the second at the end of the puerperium, checking uterine involution, lochia, vital signs, breastfeeding and family planning.
3Under Mexico's 2026 vaccination protocol, a 25-year-old with no documented tetanus vaccination needs Td. Which schedule applies?
A.A single dose, with no booster
B.Two doses one week apart
C.0, 1 and 12 months, then every 10 years
D.One dose every year for the rest of the person's life
Explanation: For people aged 15 and over with incomplete or undocumented vaccination, the protocol gives three doses of Td at 0, 1 and 12 months in the left deltoid, followed by a booster every 10 years. Pregnant women receive Tdpa from week 20 of each pregnancy.
4Under Mexico's 2026 vaccination protocol, which pneumococcal vaccination does a healthy 65-year-old receive?
A.Two doses of 23-valent polysaccharide vaccine a year apart
B.A single dose of 20-valent conjugate vaccine
C.Annual pneumococcal doses
D.None; pneumococcal vaccine is only for children
Explanation: The 2026 protocol gives adults aged 60 and over a single dose of the 20-valent conjugate pneumococcal vaccine, intramuscularly in the right deltoid. People with certain chronic conditions are vaccinated at younger ages.
5What is the maximum age for giving a dose of rotavirus vaccine under the 2026 protocol?
A.2 years
B.7 months 29 days
C.12 months
D.There is no age limit
Explanation: Rotavirus vaccine is given orally at 2 and 4 months, and no dose is given after 7 months 29 days because of the higher risk of intussusception at older ages. A history of intussusception contraindicates it.
6How and when is the MMR (SRP) vaccine given to children under the 2026 protocol?
A.Intramuscularly in the thigh at birth
B.Orally at 2 months
C.Subcutaneously, 12 and 18 months
D.Intradermally at 6 years
Explanation: SRP (measles, rubella and mumps) is given as 0.5 mL subcutaneously in the deltoid region at 12 months, with a second dose at 18 months.
7The vaccine vial monitor (VVM) on a vial shows an inner square as dark as the outer circle. What should the nurse do?
A.Use the vaccine, because it has not expired
B.Freeze the vial to restore it
C.Shake the vial and use it
D.Discard it; the heat limit was reached
Explanation: The vial monitor records cumulative heat exposure. When the square matches or is darker than the circle, the discard point has been reached, even before the expiry date.
8Under Mexico's tuberculosis norm, which person should be studied with sputum smears as a 'sintomático respiratorio'?
A.Anyone who has had sneezing for more than 1 day
B.Only people with chest pain
C.Anyone with fever for 2 hours
D.Cough with phlegm for 15 days or more
Explanation: A respiratory symptomatic is a person with cough and phlegm for 15 days or more; they are studied with a series of sputum samples for smear (baciloscopia) and, where available, molecular tests.
9Which community action best prevents dengue?
A.Giving antibiotics to the whole family
B.Boiling drinking water only
C.Vaccinating dogs
D.Removing standing-water containers
Explanation: Aedes aegypti breeds in clean standing water in containers, tires and tanks. Removing breeding sites (patio limpio) and covering stored water are key, along with repellents and screens.
10A 2-year-old has diarrhea without signs of dehydration. What does treatment Plan A at home include?
A.Stopping all food and milk for 24 hours to rest the gut
B.Giving antidiarrheal drugs
C.Keep feeding, more fluids, VSO after stools
D.Giving only soft drinks
Explanation: Plan A prevents dehydration: continue usual feeding and breastfeeding, increase fluids, give oral rehydration solution after each loose stool, and teach warning signs for return.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the EGEPT-ENFER?

The EGEPT-ENFER is Ceneval's exit examination for graduates of technical-level nursing programs. It evaluates the knowledge and skills considered essential for a Profesional Técnico en Enfermería, and institutions may use it for titulación or program evaluation. Ceneval notes that a satisfactory testimonio does not by itself guarantee a title or cédula.

How is the EGEPT-ENFER structured and timed?

It has 100 three-option multiple-choice items in three areas: Atención primaria a la salud (30), Técnicas y procedimientos de enfermería (40) and Gestión y Administración (30). It is given in a single 4.5-hour session, and about 15% of the items are unscored pilot items.

How is it scored?

Each area is reported on the Índice Ceneval from 700 to 1300 (1000 for Satisfactorio and 1150 for Sobresaliente). Unlike EGEL Plus, the global result is compensatory: each area's index is weighted by its share of items and summed, so strong areas can offset a weaker one.

When and how can I take it in 2026?

Institutions register their students for paper or online sittings. Individuals can register for Examen desde casa, which costs MXN 760 in 2026, with sittings on 23-26 March, 31 August-3 September and 7-10 December 2026. A non-programmable scientific calculator is allowed.

Why is this practice bank in English if the official exam is in Spanish?

The official Ceneval exam is in Spanish. This bank is an independent English-language study adaptation with four-option questions, not an official translation or format simulation, so you can review the nursing content. Mexican names such as NOM, Vida Suero Oral and Cartilla Nacional de Salud are kept in Spanish so they match your references.
