About the SLMC ERPDS Exam
ERPDS is the SLMC registration examination for eligible Sri Lankan citizens who obtained BDS or equivalent dental qualifications from SLMC-recognized foreign dental schools. Passing ERPDS qualifies the graduate to obtain provisional registration and proceed to intern dental surgeon training under local conditions.
Assessment
ERPDS has two parts. Part I includes Paper 1 in Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and common questions; Paper 2 in Periodontology, Restorative Dentistry, Prosthetic Dentistry and common questions; Paper 3 in Paedodontics, Orthodontics, Community Dentistry and common questions; plus OSCE/Spots. Part II includes two clinical long cases and practical examinations in Oral Surgery, Restorative Dentistry and Prosthetic Dentistry.
Time Limit
Each Part I theory paper is 2 hours with 8 essay questions. The OSCE/Spots component uses 20 stations of 5 minutes each and is listed as 2 hours. Part II has two 45-minute long cases and three one-hour practical or clinical examinations.
Passing Score
The detailed completion section states Part I requires 50% or more in each paper and OSCE.
