The West Bengal Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Preliminary Examination is the primary screening phase of the recruitment process for both the Armed and Unarmed branches. The exam tests candidates on General Studies, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, and 10th-grade level Arithmetic. It consists of 100 MCQs worth a total of 200 marks, with 90 minutes of testing time. Qualifying candidates advance to the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which are prerequisite stages before the Final Combined Competitive Exam and Personality Test.

Is there negative marking in the WBP SI Preliminary Exam?

What is the application fee for the WBP SI exam?
The application fee for General and OBC category candidates is Rs. 250, plus a processing fee of Rs. 20, making a total of Rs. 270. For SC and ST candidates belonging to West Bengal, only the processing fee of Rs. 20 is applicable.
Do preliminary marks count towards the final merit list?
No. The Preliminary Examination is screening/qualifying in nature. Marks obtained in the preliminary stage are only used to short-list candidates for the physical tests (PMT/PET) and are not considered in the final merit listing.
