About the HK MBST Container Handling Test Exam
Under section 6BA of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (Cap. 59), every person employed to carry out container handling must complete a recognised Mandatory Basic Safety Training Course (Container Handling) and hold a valid Container Handling Industry Safety Training Certificate (often called a Green Card for this stream). The 7-hour full course covers OSH legislation, work-safety concepts, port/yard hazards (stacking, traffic, lifting, machinery), accident causes and occupational diseases, emergency preparedness, accident reporting, fire prevention, PPE, and hands-on safety-harness practice. The certificate is valid for 3 years and may be renewed by a 3.5-hour revalidation course within the Labour Department window (within 6 months before expiry or not more than 3 months after).
