About the WASSCE Gambia Exam
The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) administered by the WAEC Banjul National Office is the terminal secondary-school-leaving credential for Senior Secondary School (Grade 12) students in The Gambia. It serves as the primary matriculation credential for entry into the University of The Gambia (UTG), the University of Education, The Gambia (UEG, formerly Gambia College), the Management Development Institute (MDI) and other higher education institutions. Candidates take compulsory core subjects (English Language and General Mathematics) alongside a selection of science, social science, arts, or commercial electives. Each subject is assessed via objective tests (Paper 1), essay/theory papers (Paper 2), and practical examinations (Paper 3 for sciences).
