About the Personvognstekniker Svendeprøve Exam
Personvognstekniker is the current Danish vocational qualification that replaced new admission to Personvognsmekaniker from 1 August 2026. Stage 2 ends in a svendeprøve and a svendebrev, with the apprentice specializing as Personvognstekniker – EV or Personvognstekniker – ICE at Danish Qualifications Framework level 4. Official scope covers advanced diagnosis, service, and repair of passenger cars and vans under 3,500 kg; mechanical, electrical, electronic, and digital systems; green technology; documentation; and customer communication. This page offers an English-language MCQ study adaptation of knowledge and diagnostic judgment used around those practical competencies. It is not an official translation, does not reproduce the performance assessment, and cannot certify hands-on skill.
Assessment
The vocational school conducts the stage-2 svendeprøve, in consultation with Metalindustriens Uddannelsesudvalg, during the final school period. The detailed form is set in the current training scheme. Apprentices are assessed within their chosen EV or ICE specialization; the regulation does not publish a separate theory-question count or describe a standalone oral examination.
Time Limit
Not published as a fixed duration in the current Personvognstekniker regulation
Passing Score
Grade 02 or higher on Denmark's 7-point grading scale
Exam Fee
No separate candidate examination fee published; administered as part of the EUD programme and training agreement (Vocational school in consultation with Metalindustriens Uddannelsesudvalg)
Personvognstekniker Svendeprøve Exam Content Outline

Personvognstekniker Svendeprøve Study Tips from Top Performers
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Personvognstekniker Svendeprøve?
It is the stage-2 final journeyman assessment in Denmark's Personvognstekniker EUD. The vocational school conducts it in consultation with Metalindustriens Uddannelsesudvalg during the final school period, and a passing apprentice receives a svendebrev.
What changed on 1 August 2026?
BEK nr. 172 introduced the Personvognstekniker qualification for new admissions and created two stage-2 specializations: Personvognstekniker – EV and Personvognstekniker – ICE. Learners who began under the prior Personvognsmekaniker rules normally remain under those rules unless they transfer by agreement.
What are the current eligibility requirements for the svendeprøve?
The apprentice must complete the applicable main course for the chosen specialization and hold the relevant driving licence before the final assessment, unless the trade committee grants an exemption. Each required main-course vocational subject and the final assessment must be passed for the school certificate.
How is a passing svendeprøve result defined?
The current general Industriens Uddannelser guide treats grades 02, 4, 7, 10, and 12 as passing and grades 00 and -3 as failing on the Danish 7-point scale.
How long is the current Personvognstekniker Svendeprøve and how many questions does it have?
The current regulation does not publish a fixed duration or question count. It defines a school-administered stage-2 svendeprøve and delegates the detailed arrangement to the current training scheme, so candidates should use their school's current plan rather than an older Personvognsmekaniker timetable.
In what language is the official assessment taken?
The vocational examination rules provide for Danish, with Swedish or Norwegian permitted in place of Danish unless Danish ability is itself being assessed; a school may permit another foreign language where circumstances allow. This bank remains an English-language study adaptation and does not claim that an official English sitting is generally available.
How does this practice bank adapt the official assessment?
It turns technical knowledge, calculations, diagnostic decisions, safety sequencing, and error recognition into English four-option MCQs. It is not an official translation or format simulation and cannot replace supervised practice, task documentation, communication, or hands-on assessment.
