About the Hesse Abitur Italian LK Exam
Hesse Italienisch Leistungskurs is the advanced-course written Landesabitur Italian assessment administered by the Hessisches Ministerium für Kultus, Bildung und Chancen. Preparation for 2026 rests on the OAVO (20.7.2009, last amended 18.3.2021), the KCGO Italienisch per VOKCGOBG (17.7.2018, last amended 27.7.2022), and the LA26 Abiturerlass (Erlass vom 26.6.2024), whose section 8 publishes the binding Themenfelder with Grundkurs/Leistungskurs differentiation. The real paper is written in Italian across two Prüfungsteile — Sprachmittlung and Schreiben mit integriertem Leseverstehen — with no task choice in the Leistungskurs and decentrally created tasks under §7 Abs. 5 OAVO. This free English MCQ bank trains grammar accuracy, literary and Landeskunde knowledge, Themenfeld concepts, and exam-format awareness before students practise full official-style Klausur tasks.

Assessment
Official written Italienisch Leistungskurs (Landesabitur Hessen) is a constructed-response examination written in Italian, ausgewiesen by Einzelerlass under §7 Abs. 5 OAVO with decentralized task creation regulated by the Durchführungsbestimmungen. Per LA26 Erlass section 8: Prüfungsteil 1 is Sprachmittlung — mediation of a 400–650-word source text into Italian for a specified audience and purpose, never a literal translation; Prüfungsteil 2 is Schreiben mit integriertem Leseverstehen, ggf. mit Gestaltungsanteilen, based on a 700–1,000-word LK text (poems and other highly condensed texts may fall below the minimum). Both Prüfungsteile are mandatory in the LK — there is no task choice. Content draws on the KCGO Italienisch and nine LA26 Themenfelder with LK-only deepenings: Q1.1 Realtà famigliari, Q1.2 Educazione, Q1.3 Emancipazione e cambiamento dei ruoli, Q2.1 Processi migratori, Q2.2 Oppressione e resistenza, Q2.3 Sviluppo diseguale, Q3.1 L'individuo e le sue responsabilità, Q3.2 Criminalità organizzata, Q3.5 Norme e valori. Assessment follows the modern-foreign-languages Erlass of 7 August 2020 (§33 Abs. 2 and §9 Abs. 13 OAVO): Teil 1 and Teil 2 are evaluated separately and rounding occurs only when the overall grade is computed. This 100-question bank is an English MCQ study adaptation only — it does not simulate official Italian constructed-response production or timed writing.
Time Limit
285 minutes including the (non-separately-identified) selection time — the Bearbeitungszeit for the Leistungsfach of a modern foreign language per §25 Abs. 2 OAVO and LA26 Erlass section II. The written Landesabitur 2026 takes place 15 April – 8 May 2026, with Nachprüfungen 19 May – 3 June 2026; the exact Italienisch LK date is set in the Durchführungsbestimmungen exam schedule.
Passing Score

Not a single MCQ percent cut score.
Exam / Certification Fees
No exam fee for regular school candidates; the Landesabitur is a state school examination taken through the Hesse school pathway. External-candidate (Nichtschüler) arrangements, if any, are school/authority-specific and not a published fee.

Hesse Abitur Italian LK: Suggested Study Strategy
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the official Hesse Italienisch Leistungskurs Abitur a multiple-choice exam?
No. The official written paper is a constructed-response Klausur written in Italian (the official exam language in a foreign-language subject is the target language), with two Prüfungsteile: Sprachmittlung and Schreiben mit integriertem Leseverstehen. This bank is an English-language MCQ study adaptation — it is not an official translation, not a bilingual sitting, and not a simulation of the official format.
How long is the Italienisch LK written exam and is there a task choice?
The Bearbeitungszeit for the Leistungsfach of a modern foreign language is 285 minutes including selection time (§25 Abs. 2 OAVO; LA26 Erlass section II). Unlike the Grundkurs — where candidates choose between proposals B1 and B2 in Prüfungsteil 2 — Leistungskurs candidates have no task choice: both Prüfungsteile are mandatory.
What do the two Prüfungsteile involve?
Prüfungsteil 1 (Sprachmittlung) asks you to mediate a 400–650-word source text into Italian for a defined audience and purpose — selective and reformulated, never a literal translation. Prüfungsteil 2 (Schreiben mit integriertem Leseverstehen, ggf. mit Gestaltungsanteilen) is based on a 700–1,000-word LK stimulus text; highly condensed texts such as poems may fall below the minimum.
Which themes does the LA26 Erlass prescribe for Italienisch?
Nine Themenfelder: Q1.1 Realtà famigliari, Q1.2 Educazione, Q1.3 Emancipazione e cambiamento dei ruoli, Q2.1 Processi migratori, Q2.2 Oppressione e resistenza, Q2.3 Sviluppo diseguale, Q3.1 L'individuo e le sue responsabilità, Q3.2 Criminalità organizzata and Q3.5 Norme e valori — each with LK-only deepenings such as «rapporti di forza», «clandestinità e sfruttamento» and «connivenza politica».
Who creates the Italienisch Abitur tasks?
Italienisch (Leistungskurs) — like Russisch and Litauisch LK — is ausgewiesen as a written Abitur subject by Einzelerlass under §7 Abs. 5 OAVO, and task creation is decentralized («die Aufgabenerstellung erfolgt dezentral»), regulated by the Durchführungsbestimmungen zum Landesabitur 2026. The LA26 Erlass Themenfelder still bind the content.
Which aids are allowed?
A German spelling dictionary; one introduced monolingual Italian dictionary with at most 300,000 headwords and one introduced bilingual dictionary with at most 250,000 headwords (electronic dictionaries are not allowed); uncommented text editions of the Pflichtlektüre; and the list of subject-specific operators.
Is there an exam fee?
No. The Landesabitur is a state school examination; regular school candidates pay no fee. External-candidate arrangements, where they exist, are school/authority-specific and not a published fee.
