About the Concours AFA Direct Exam
The Concours Direct for admission to the École de Formation des Officiers of the Académie des Forces Armées (AFA) de Zambakro recruits the future active-duty officers of the Forces Armées de Côte d'Ivoire and the Gendarmerie Nationale. Located near Yamoussoukro, AFA also trains officers from a number of partner African countries. The 2026 session opened for candidates holding the Baccalauréat plus at least a Licence, or two validated years of classes préparatoires, aged 25 or 26 at most depending on qualification, and fixed 100 places for academic year 2027-2028 with at least 10% reserved for women. Selection runs in three phases: a preliminary phase with a medical visit and a 6 km endurance test, four written papers (Culture générale, Français, Anglais, and Épreuves spécifiques), and a final phase of in-depth medical screening, sports events, and a jury interview. The official competition is conducted in French.
