About the Burkina Faso Notaire Concours Exam
Burkina Faso's concours d'accès à la profession de notaire is jointly organised by the Ordre des Notaires du Burkina Faso and the Ministère de la Justice. The 2026 sitting opened with 1,185 candidates for 20 posts (Sidwaya, 24 May 2026); Secretary-General Harouna KADIO and Ordre president Me Yacouba DEMBELÉ launched the first paper at Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo. Official papers are in French: rédaction d'actes, then an étude de cas drawn from civil, commercial, fiscal, judiciaire privé or DIP, then a 30-minute oral. Loi n°021-2019/AN of 7 May 2019 is the statut des notaires: the notary is an officier public named to ensure a public service of proof, holds the State seal, and is nominated by décret. After admission, a two-year stage in a Burkina étude precedes proposal to the Minister of Justice; charges are created at a TGI. 2026 eligibility (Ministry communiqué, 26 March 2026) includes age 23 completed on 31 December 2026, Burkina nationality or reciprocity, and maîtrise en droit; the 2019 law still requires 25 years for admission to notaire functions after the stage. This free English MCQ bank trains the legal knowledge behind those papers; it is not an official translation or a format simulation.
Assessment
Two written admissibility papers plus one oral admission, as last fully published in the 17 May 2021 Ordre notice (lefaso.net article 104751) and confirmed in 2026 reporting (rédaction d'actes then a case/choice paper, then oral). Written: (1) rédaction d'actes, coefficient 3, 3 hours; (2) étude de cas, coefficient 3, 4 hours, subject drawn from droit civil, commercial, fiscal, judiciaire privé or DIP. Oral: 30 minutes, coefficient 3, exposé on the notarial function and/or a legal problem plus discussion. Candidates are admissible if the written average is at least 12/20. Admitted candidates become notaires stagiaires for two years in a Burkina étude, then are proposed to the Minister of Justice for nomination by décret; a charge is created at a TGI. This 100-question bank is an English-language MCQ study adaptation of the underlying law — not an official translation, not a simulation of acte drafting, and not a substitute for timed French rédaction.
Time Limit
2021 published durations (still the last fully specified timetable): rédaction d'actes 3 hours; étude de cas 4 hours; oral 30 minutes. 2026 written sitting launched 24 May 2026 at Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo, Ouagadougou.

Burkina Faso Notaire Concours Study Tips from Top Performers
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the official Burkina Faso notaire concours a multiple-choice exam in English?
No. Official papers are written and oral in French: rédaction d'actes, an étude de cas, and a 30-minute oral. This bank is an English-language MCQ study adaptation, not an official translation or a simulation of acte drafting.
Who organises the 2026 recruitment?
The Ordre des Notaires du Burkina Faso in collaboration with the Ministère de la Justice. Sidwaya (24 May 2026) reported the launch by Secretary-General Harouna KADIO and Ordre president Me Yacouba DEMBELÉ at Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo, with 1,185 candidates for 20 posts.
What is the written admissibility bar?
The 2021 Ordre notice required an average of at least 12/20 across the two written papers. 2026 reporting confirmed the same two written papers (rédaction d'actes and a case/choice subject) plus oral admission.
What happens after admission?
Admitted candidates are enrolled as notaires stagiaires and complete a two-year practical stage in a Burkina étude. Those with a favourable stage report are proposed to the Minister of Justice for nomination by décret; a charge is created at the TGI of assignment (2021 Ordre notice; loi n°021-2019/AN).
What diploma is required?
At least a maîtrise en droit or a diploma recognised as equivalent (2026 Ministry communiqué; GlobaLex; loi n°021-2019/AN art. 11). Equivalence is proved by the candidate under décret n°97-301 of 16 July 1997; it is not presumed.
How old must a 2026 candidate be?
The 26 March 2026 Ministry communiqué required at least 23 years completed on 31 December 2026 for the concours. That is distinct from loi n°021-2019/AN art. 11, which still requires 25 years completed for admission to the functions of notaire after the two-year stage.
