About the Armenia Driving Theory Test Exam
The Armenia driving licence theory examination (Վարորդական իրավունքի վկայական ստանալու տեսական քննություն) is the mandatory computer-based assessment required to obtain a driving licence in the Republic of Armenia. It is administered by the Road Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at its regional Registration and Examination Departments. A randomly generated paper contains 3 psychological-test questions and 20 knowledge-test questions, and the knowledge questions can only be attempted once all the psychological questions are correct. The 20 knowledge questions follow a published split: 15 on the RA Road Traffic Rules (Government Decision N 955-N of 28 June 2007, Annex 1), 2 on the conditions prohibiting the operation of vehicles (Annex 2), 2 on the RA Law 'On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety', and 1 on first aid. The sitting lasts 30 minutes and at least 18 of the 20 knowledge questions must be correct. The Road Police publishes the full official database of 1,116 questions in Armenian, Russian, English and Arabic, so English is an official examination language rather than a translation. This practice bank is an independent study aid built to the same four-part official split; it is not the official question set, and unlike the real exam it uses four written options throughout, whereas many official items are diagram-based and offer two, three or five options.
Assessment
A computer-based examination taken at a regional Registration and Examination Department of the Road Police. The system draws a paper at random containing 3 psychological-test questions and 20 knowledge-test questions; the knowledge questions may only be answered once every psychological question has been answered correctly. The 20 knowledge questions are made up of 15 on the RA Road Traffic Rules (Government Decision N 955-N, Annex 1), 2 on the conditions prohibiting the operation of vehicles (Annex 2 of the same decision), 2 on the RA Law 'On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety', and 1 on first aid. The whole sitting lasts 30 minutes and at least 18 of the 20 knowledge questions must be correct. The exam is offered in Armenian, Russian, English and Arabic, and the Road Police publishes its full 1,116-question database in all four languages. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the format and passing score of the Armenia driving theory exam?
A randomly generated computer paper contains 3 psychological-test questions and 20 knowledge-test questions. You may only answer the knowledge questions once every psychological question is correct, and you must get at least 18 of the 20 knowledge questions right within the 30-minute sitting.
What subjects do the 20 knowledge questions cover?
The split is published: 15 questions on the RA Road Traffic Rules (Government Decision N 955-N, Annex 1), 2 on the conditions prohibiting the operation of vehicles (Annex 2 of the same decision), 2 on the RA Law 'On Ensuring Road Traffic Safety', and 1 on first aid.
In what languages is the Armenia driving theory exam available?
The Road Police offer the theory exam in four languages — Armenian, Russian, English and Arabic — and publish the full official question database in all four on roadpolice.am. English is therefore an official examination language, not an unofficial translation.
What are the standard speed limits in Armenia?
Unless a sign says otherwise: 20 km/h in living zones and yard territories, 60 km/h inside built-up areas, 90 km/h outside built-up areas for cars and motorcycles, and 110 km/h on motorways. Trucks over 3.5 tonnes and cars with trailers are limited to 70 km/h outside built-up areas, and towing another motor vehicle is capped at 50 km/h.
What is the legal alcohol limit for drivers in Armenia?
Article 126 of the RA Code of Administrative Offences treats a driver as being in a 'not sober' state above 0.2 grams of pure alcohol per litre of blood or 0.1 milligrams per litre of exhaled air. Exceeding 1.0 g/l of blood or 0.5 mg/l of breath is the aggravated tier. Armenia is sometimes described as zero tolerance, but the law fixes a measured threshold rather than banning any detectable trace.
Is this practice bank the official Road Police exam?
No. The official database of 1,116 questions is published by the Road Police of the Republic of Armenia and many of its items are diagram-based with two, three or five answer options. This bank is an independent study aid written to the same four-part official split, using four written options throughout so it can be studied without the official diagrams. Use it to learn the underlying rules, then work through the official question sets on roadpolice.am.
