How do the SC Esthetician vocabulary games work?

There are 4 games built on 20 SC Esthetician terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.

Where do the SC Esthetician terms come from?

OpenExamPrep researched each term from the South Carolina Board of Cosmetology (SC LLR); examinations developed by NIC and administered by Prov, Inc. content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.

How many training hours are required for an esthetician license in South Carolina?

S.C. Code Section 40-13-230(B)(2) requires at least 450 hours in classes in skin care in a reliable school approved by the Board, or comparable training approved by the Board. Regulation 35-3(C) sets the subject breakdown: Professional Practices 50, Sciences 120, Facial Treatments 125, Hair Removal 50, Makeup 50, Body Wraps 40, and State Law 15. House Bill 4186, which proposed raising the minimum to 600 hours, was referred to committee in March 2025 and was not enacted.

What is the passing score for the South Carolina esthetician exam?

Regulation 35-5(D) requires a minimum score of 75 on each part of the two-part examination. Prov states the requirement as an overall passing score of 75.00 on both the written and practical examinations. Regulation 35-5(E) provides that a candidate who fails either part retakes only the part failed.
