About the NH DMV Knowledge Test Exam
The New Hampshire driver license knowledge test is a 40-question, multiple-choice exam taken on a touchscreen computer at a New Hampshire DMV office. It covers traffic laws, road signs and signals, safe-driving practices, impaired-driving rules, parking, and vehicle equipment, all drawn from the State of New Hampshire Driver's Manual. New Hampshire is the only state that does not issue a traditional learner's permit: once a person at least 15 years and 6 months old passes the vision and knowledge tests, supervised driving may begin immediately.
Exam sponsor: New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles. The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.
