Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CSO vocabulary game free?
Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.
How does the CSO vocabulary game work?
Each round shows a clue for one of 20 CSO terms. Guess the term in six tries: green means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the term but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the term. After the round, read the explanation and play the next term.
Where do the CSO terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the CDR content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
What is the CSO examination format?
150 four-option multiple-choice items: 125 scored and 25 unscored pretest items. Testing lasts 180 minutes; the appointment adds a 20-minute introductory tutorial. CDR offers year-round Pearson VUE test-centre appointments.
Who is eligible for initial CSO certification?
Maintain current CDR RD/RDN status for at least two years from the original RD examination date by the specialty examination date, and document 2,000 hours of oncology nutrition practice as an RD in the preceding five years. Approved substitutions can cover up to 40%, or 800 hours.
