Frequently Asked Questions
Is the AAP vocabulary game free?
Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.
How does the AAP vocabulary game work?
Each round shows a clue for one of 20 AAP terms. Guess the term in six tries: green means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the term but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the term. After the round, read the explanation and play the next term.
Where do the AAP terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Nacha (delivered at Pearson VUE testing centers) content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
What is the format of the AAP exam?
The AAP exam is 120 multiple-choice questions delivered in 3 hours as a computer-based test at Pearson VUE testing centers. Twenty of the 120 questions are unscored pilot items, so 100 questions count toward the result. The 2026 test window runs October 5 through October 31, 2026.
What is the passing score for the AAP exam?
Nacha does not publish a passing percentage. Results are reported only as pass or no pass, and Nacha establishes the cut score together with the AAP Blue Ribbon Panel. Candidates see their pass/no pass result immediately after finishing the exam and receive a diagnostic report six to eight weeks after the test window closes.
